Let’s talk the 10 Commandments

This blog is inspired by the New Testament Book written by Paul as a letter to the Romans. Romans, chapter 7 has been viewed by some as confusing and difficult to figure out what Paul is talking about. I believe that what He’s saying is that the 10 Commandments or the Laws are “NOT A DEATH PENALTY”, but that doesn’t mean that they are void! The LAW is actually an expression of God’s Heart and the way HE wants us to live in this world. These LAWS were not just designed for the Children of Israel when He brought them out of Egypt, they were designed to show us WHO HE IS – the LAW is HIS VOICE speaking to mankind! So we should give it a 2nd thought when as a Christian we get angry because someone brings up the LAW! After all, HE gave us these LAWS for our benefit and correction! In Roman’s 7, Paul begins by talking about the humanity of Adam’s sinful nature which brought mankind death and Jesus’s righteousness which defeated death giving us victory over the death penalty of the LAW. I feel an essence of determination as Paul speaks of his own flaws and about the clash of his flesh and spirit; so in my eyes he’s telling us that as long as we’re alive, the “Letter of the Law” will be wrestling with the “Spirit of the Law”. This disagreement between the flesh and the spirit is why we continue to stumble and fall. This is why “WE NEED the SALVATION of JESUS CHRIST“. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to pick us up and put us back on the path of HIS Righteousness which can only be attained by HIS Blood that HE shed for us on the cross.

Therefore, although the 10 Commandments are no longer a death penalty for the believer, they are the way of life for how we are to live as Christians. This is why Paul was having such a struggle between his flesh and his spirit…his spirit desired for him to be in harmony with Christ.

2 Corinthian 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” ‭‭

WOW!!! A new identity! Has the “old man – woman” in you been crucified with Christ? Be honest with yourselves… are you doing your best to repent of your sin and to turn away from sin , or are you dragging your sin and the baggage of your “OLD LIFE” into a pretentious non-existent salvation because you refuse to let go of this world? Until you love and serve the Savior with all of your heart, mind and soul, you’re cheating on HIM! Frequently scriptures in the “OLD TESTAMENT” tells us that He’s a jealous God!

Psalm 79:5 How long, Yahweh? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy keep burning like fire?

The first commandment and the Greatest Commandment is to Love God! Matthew 22:36-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the first and great commandment.

When Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hammaschiach (Hebrew), enters into your life, more and more as each day passes, you come to be so “in LOVE” with HIM and so overwhelmed by the fact that He loved you so much that He died for you and that our Father in Heaven so loved us that He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son for our Salvation, that we are overcome by the desire to please and obey God. The knowledge of this sacrifice should become the motivation and the catalyst for your existence in this world. You should be overcome with a tremendous desire to do all that you do to glorify Jesus and your Heavenly Father.

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.

When I hear people say that the “OLD TESTAMENT” has no bearing on who we are today as Christians, it’s almost shocking! We have been adopted into the family as the Children of God, the Heirs. Wasn’t it enough that He gave us His Son as a sacrifice? Why would we think that God changed His rules for us too? If you were to invite someone into you home, would you change the house rules? Would you say it’s okay for them to continue in the lifestyle they were living before they became a part of your family? Wouldn’t the other members who follow the rules of your family ask…why have you made it so easy for them to be a part of this family, yet so difficult for me?

Walking the path that Jesus shows us how to walk becomes a heart and head journey. Why does Jesus use and expound upon and clarify the 10 Commandments as a mirror to show the reflection of sin? For one thing, he’s making it perfectly clear that when you break any one of these commandments, you’ve broken them all. When he reiterates the commandment about adultery, he goes so far as to spell it out that “looking in lust” is committing adultery because you’ve partaken of sin in your heart. When you’re angry with your brother without cause, you are the same as a murderer. Not only does he tell us to love our fellowman, but to love our enemies too! In both the Old & New Testaments, God tell us that his people will follow him because “HIS LAW” is written on our hearts and in our minds. Following the 10 Commands that God laid down for His people becomes a privilege not a burden and when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us, he leads us. When we “KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, we are pleasing our Father in Heaven.

Chosen to be the children of God:

Deuteronomy 7.6 For you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

WE HAVE BEEN SET APART! We are to look different, live and act differently than those who haven’t accepted Jesus as their Savior. We are to become a light in the darkness of this world! God gave the world the 10 Commandments that we might become obedient…and of course the 10 Commandments were not designed to save us! Jesus is the “ONLY” Salvation! Therefore, we need to embrace the WORD not the WORLD! Jesus came to earth as a man to give us a standard to live by and HE was “Obedient unto Death”! Obedience is not an option…in order for us to be a royal priesthood and a holy nation, we must become God’s children in every aspect of our lives! That’s not to say that we won’t stumble and fall, or that we can ever be perfect as HE was perfect, but we can know and recognize the “perfect will of God” and do our best to be faithful to Him to the end.

Many people who read Revelation become filled with fear…however, when we read Revelation, we’re told right at the opening of the book:

Revelation 1:3 The one who reads this is blessed, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near!

Revelation 14:12 This demands the perseverance of the saints, who keep God’s commands and their faith in Jesus.

Revelation 21:8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Without the LAW, how can we show someone that they’re walking down the wrong path? How can we say the Law no longer matters…until the sinner has repented and been covered by the blood of Jesus, it matters! We can’t do away with the “perfect nature of God”!

The Law of God or the 10 Commandments are not just a list of right and wrong, once again I reiterate, they are a reflection of the WHO GOD IS! They are a reflection of WHO Jesus is! Why is it so easy for a Christian to nonchalantly say: I don’t need to follow THOSE LAWS anymore. When HE says that HE will put them in our hearts and write them on our minds, does that make them less important than when they were written in stone on Mt. Sinai? And why would he write just some of the law on our hearts and in our minds? He didn’t say that he would write just portions of it in our hearts and on our minds…the scriptures say:

Hebrew 10:15-17 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. For after He says: This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws on their hearts and write them on their minds, I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts.

Jeremiah 31:33 “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.

As Christians, we need to be careful of the language we use, especially when there are non-believers within hearing distance! Accepting Jesus as your Savior is the 1st step of many more steps to become pleasing to God…to become a child of God.

Who changed the Sabbath to Sunday?

The 4th Commandment is important to me because I want every aspect of my life to reflect the life of Jesus…Jesus was PERFECT and kept ALL of HIS FATHER’S commandments. I recognize that I can never measure up to Jesus, but with every fiber of my being I want to try to reflect Him in my life. I thank you Heavenly Father that belief in your son and His Sacrifice is Salvation and I have the choice through faith and obedience to become one of your children!

Emperor Constantine I Changed the Sabbath to Sunday on March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. From that point in time, it slowly ebbed it’s way in to replace the Sabbath (day of rest) that was proclaimed by God after He created the Earth and ALL that’s on the Earth.

Genesis 2:1-3 So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.

What is the original Sabbath day? The Jewish people have kept the Sabbath (from Hebrew shavat, “to rest”) and it’s observed throughout the year on the seventh day of the week— which according to the Gregorian calendar (introduced in October 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII), instead of “SABBATH”, we now call it Saturday (named after the Roman God Saturn). According to biblical tradition, Sabbath commemorates the original seventh day on which God rested after completing the creation.

God, who is omnipotent (all powerful), does not require a day of rest, after all, he created the entire world in six days. However, man is just the opposite of God, we are powerless, so He designed a day of rest for us and it was also a day for us to commune with Him and get to know Him better.

4th Commandment:

Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: You are to labor six days and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates. 11 For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.

Exodus 34:21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest: even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest”.

NOWHERE in the BIBLE does it say that “God our Heavenly Father” or “Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamaschiach” changed the Sabbath or gave us permission to change it from the 7th day of the week to the 1st day of the week. According to the Scriptures Jesus kept Sabbath. The following scriptures all speak to the fact that Jesus was teaching and healing in the synagogue on the Sabbath:

Mark 1:21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

Mark 6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 6:6-11 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

Jesus didn’t abolish the Sabbath…as in so many other instances, Jesus was showing the people that the Sabbath had been “profaned” by the teachings of MAN! (PLEASE NOTE that throughout all the teachings of Jesus – Yeshua, not once did He say that any of the 10 Commandments of God had been taken away, as a matter of fact, he explained in more detail the commandments to reinforce their importance!) Yes! It’s true that God wrote the 10 Commandments on stone after they left Egypt and while they were in the wilderness with Moses, but that was because the Israelite tribes had been slaves of Egypt for 400 years and throughout that time, they’d lost touch with how God expected them to live. He didn’t give them the commandments to be a “death penalty” he gave them the commandments as a guidance or a book of rules to follow that would make them pleasing in His sight. The Christians today, believe that the 10 Commandments were nailed on the CROSS when Jesus died for our sins, but what they don’t recognize is that it was not God’s guidance that was nailed on the cross, it was all of the ceremonial laws that were in themselves a prophecy of the coming Messiah – Jesus fulfilled these prophecies as well as every prophecy in the entire Old Testament.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The definition of fulfil is to carry out, or bring to realization, as a prophecy or promise. to perform or do, as duty; obey or follow, as commands. to satisfy (requirements, obligations, etc.) The entire Old Testament is preparing us for the 1st coming of our Lord Jesus – Emmanuel -GOD WITH US! Jesus’s birth and ministry fulfills the prophecies of the Old Testament and The New Testament sets forth in detail exactly what Jesus expects of us as HIS followers. Ultimately, the Bible gives us God’s plan for Salvation beginning in Genesis and ending in Revelation.

Luke 13:10-16 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

Luke 14:1-5 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

Matthew 12:1–8 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. This same account of Jesus and His disciples is repeated in Mark 2:23–28 and Luke 6:1–5. In all 3 accounts, Jesus tells us that He is the “LORD of the SABBATH”.

He reminds the Pharisees of David and the sacred bread and how the Priests had not shown mercy, but condemned them. I believe that He’s saying that the Priests have complicated the Law of the Sabbath and twisted it to their own interpretations. Jesus is not saying that the Sabbath is no longer valid. He’s saying “DO GOOD on the SABBATH”! and of course, we are to do good everyday.

Mark 2:27  And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

When man is referenced in the Bible, He’s not just talking about the Jews! He’s talking about Gentiles (ALL MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN). The SABBATH was kept during the time before and after the flood and before the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (patriarch of the 12 tribes of Israel). The time period from creation until Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with the 10 Commandments was approximately 2500 years. So for those who say the Sabbath is for the Jews, they are missing the point that the Sabbath is for all mankind.

The apostles kept the Sabbath: in the book of Acts when Paul goes to Corinth, he’s taken into the home of Aquila and Priscilla (who were already followers of Jesus) and it is understood that he worked with them as a tent maker; every Sabbath, Paul went to the synagogue using the Scriptures (OLD TESTAMENT) to persuade both Jews and Greeks proclaiming Jesus to be the Messiah.

Acts 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

That’s approximately 72 Sabbaths (I’m talking 7th day – that doesn’t include the High Sabbaths held during the feasts). I can’t help but believe that if the Sabbath had been changed, Paul and the other apostles would have used this book alone as an opportunity to make this change known to the Gentiles. So of course the Apostles didn’t change it! Aside from proclaiming the Gospel, it was the Apostles intention to emulate Christ in every aspect of their lives. So when Scripture tells us that keeping the Sabbath is referred to as a “custom”, that doesn’t make it any less important to God, it just means that from the beginning of time, God’s people had observed the 7th day as HIS SABBATH. If God hadn’t wanted us to observe the 7th day Sabbath he wouldn’t have started the 4th commandment by saying “REMEMBER”! He wouldn’t have declared it “HOLY” and “BLESSED! What God has made HOLY remains HOLY!

The Bible tells us in regards to the antichrist:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

So keep this in your minds…the 1st day of the week Sunday was chosen to be the Sabbath by a man or men…Sunday had for centuries before the time of Jesus had been a day that the Romans had consecrated to the pagan Sun God and that’s also where it gets the name of Sunday. It became the official day of rest in the Roman Empire, making it the day of choice for church assemblies. The first-century apostles did not change it! NO human being, institution or state has ever had the right or been given the right to tamper with what God has set apart as Holy and Blessed. As you can see from reading the 4th Commandment, God makes it perfectly clear that He has blessed the 7th day and declared it holy.

As in today’s world, politics seem to orchestrate lawlessness and deception. Politicians have always put themselves above the law, especially God’s Law. If you’re willing to look at historical evidence, the substitution of Sunday for the Sabbath took hold largely through a political decision made by the Roman Emperor Constantine, who by legalizing Christianity, he secured a political advantage over a defeated contender for the office of emperor. Rome which had been Pagan for centuries, used and abused Christianity by making it a puppet under the control of the state. When Constantine made the decision to move the capitol of Rome to Constantinople (in what is today’s country of Turkey), he left the city of Rome in the hands of the Pope.

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Once you’ve accepted Jesus to be your Savior and repented from your sins, every moment of everyday of your life, you are standing at the fork in the road…you have to make a choice whether you are desiring to continue as a child of God or as a child of the world! Are you willing to choose the narrow way? Jesus tells us that we must give up this world to be His follower. So I end this blog by saying choose wisely!

Does God’s Truth Change?

Psalm 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and all Your righteous judgments endure forever.

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Hebrews 3:18 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Where are the Pastors who are compelled to tell us the TRUTH? After all, aren’t they our shepherds on this earth and isn’t it their job to guide the flocks to safety and the TRUTH? JESUS – YESHUA is our GOOD SHEPHERD! He laid down his life for his lost sheep and is overjoyed when just one is saved. Have the Pastors forgotten that the flock they are shepherding doesn’t belong to them..the flock belongs to Jesus? In a world that’s so full of lies, hypocrisies and evil. Shouldn’t a Pastor be willing to stand up for the TRUTH according to God’s Word? Shouldn’t your Pastor tell you the TRUTH no matter what you believe? We live in a world where people have decided that they have the right to their own TRUTH!, There’s only ONE TRUTH and that’s GOD’S TRUTH! Jesus is The WAY, THE TRUTH and THE LIFE. Jesus is the LORD over ALL! How can we as the Children of God turn our attention to the world and what the world wants and expects? Shouldn’t we be in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide us to what our Heavenly Father wants? Guide us to what is HIS TRUTH?

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. 16 For everything that belongs to the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s lifestyle—is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 And the world with its lust is passing away, but the one who does God’s will remains forever.

As Christians, we have been distracted from the TRUTH of GOD by the filthiness of the world! We’ve been entrenched and totally distracted by the world, Satan the “father of lies” has successfully diverted our attention away from God! Our eyes are now focused on all of the matters that have nothing to do with our Salvation or the Will of God. There’s people protesting, arguing and screaming about their rights, people who claim to be Christian and not giving a thought to the TRUTH of God. All around us, there’s hate and dissension about “pro-choice”, “politics”, “political correctness”, “pro-gay and transgender”, “climate change”, the “economy”, “gun control”, “immigration”, civil rights”, “bullying”, “healthcare” and last but not least, the “Covid-19 virus” (which has intensified all of the distractions). I recognize that I’ve only begun the list of distractions that Satan has laid before us. All of the above mentioned are a sad example and a testimony to the state of a nation and a world that has thrown Heavenly Father and the Love of Jesus Messiah to the curb. We’ve become so preoccupied with these distractions that most don’t even think about putting Jesus into the situation. Praying for God to intervene and forgive us as a nation, begging for mercy; because “WE DON’T DESERVE IT!” Why aren’t we asking Heavenly Father to show us how Jesus would handle these things? What would Jesus do to make it better? If we’re to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, how would these issues be resolved? We are to reflect Jesus in our very existence…so why do we just say there’s nothing we can do about it? We’re too busy slinging mud and treating one another as if we are less than human…less than made in the IMAGE of GOD!

Exodus 23:7 Stay far away from a false accusation. Do not kill the innocent and the just, because I will not justify the guilty.

Have you ever asked yourself how would Jesus handle “pro choice”? According to the Miriam Webster Dictionary the definition of pro choice: favoring the legalization of abortion. As a Christian, can we really close our eyes to murder of any kind, but even more so can we close our eyes and look the other way at the murder of the most innocent? I’ve lost count of how many Christians have told me that they’re not pro abortion, that they’re pro choice. Obviously, they don’t have a clue what platform they’re standing on. HOW CAN A CHRISTIAN be pro choice if it means shedding the blood of the innocent? How can a Pastor stand before his or her congregation and not say ‘LOUD and CLEAR” so there’s no mistaking it…that abortion is wrong and that we shouldn’t support anyone one who advocates “pro choice”? So if you oppose abortion, then you should also oppose any candidate that says, it’s a woman’s right or pro choice to kill her baby!

Why won’t our Pastors stand up and say that when we vote, we need to vote against “intrinsic evil”? Are they so afraid that half of the flock will get up and leave the church that they won’t speak GOD’S TRUTH? Isn’t the facts that over 60 million babies have been murdered in this country since 1973 and over 1.5 billion around the world be enough to make them speak up? That 60 million is barely less than 1/6th of our current US population of 331 million – did you hear that? Almost 1/6 of our population of our country! Shouldn’t these statistics just torment our Pastors’s and fellow Christian’s hearts and minds with such pain and anguish that they’re willing and want to speak out against this injustice? Isn’t it time for us to talk with love and compassion to the people who wantonly stand on the side of evil? Is seeing the church pews filled and the almighty dollar in the collection plate blinding the Pastor’s from their duty to God and HIS FLOCK? Don’t they believe that when they stand up for God’s TRUTH that he will fill the pews and pay the bills?

Then you hear the supporters of pro choice defend their position by asking…but what about rape and incest victims? However, if statistics are being brought into the conversation: LESS THAN 1% of ALL abortions are a result of rape or incest!!! The rest are elective…in 1973 the United States Supreme Court gave women the choice to murder their child and a huge number of Christians say it’s okay. I don’t believe God’s TRUTH will justify any child being murdered because of how they were conceived. As a matter of fact, Heavenly Father makes it clear that he “HATES” the killing of the innocent.

Proverbs 6:16-18 The Lord hates six things;
in fact, seven are detestable to Him:
17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that plots wicked schemes,
feet eager to run to evil,

Now don’t tell me that we aren’t an accomplice to it because we didn’t actually choose the abortion or condone the abortion. OUR HANDS ARE BLOODY because we’re not doing everything possible in our power to end it! So once again I ask the question: WHY WON’T OUR PASTORS SPEAK OUT?

So here’s a critical question for you: Do you really care about the unborn? Is it just rhetoric and lip service on the part of people who claim Christianity? Do our Pastors really care about this question or are they just paying lip service to GOD! If they really cared about the unborn why aren’t they telling GOD’S FLOCKS (congregations) that we HAVE to VOTE against EVIL?

Aren’t we ALL supposed to be good and faithful servants? Especially the Pastors who are helping to shepherd the flock so they can find their way to the LIGHT? To Find their way to the “NARROW GATE”? When we say Jesus is our Savior and that we want to follow HIM and obey HIM, why do we allow the secular world to get in the way of doing what’s right in the EYES of GOD? Have we placed the lives of the unborn in the category of insignificance? Are those precious unborn barely an afterthought? Do we actually give them any thought at all?

Matthew 18:10 “See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father in heaven.

What kind of testimony is it that the president of a nation has to sign an executive order to protect vulnerable newborn and infant children?

As a nation how do we bring Glory to GOD when we allow this EVIL to continue?

1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Are YOU WASHED in the Blood of the Lamb?

Tomorrow isn’t promised, so TODAY is the DAY! It’s my prayer that you choose to put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead on the 3rd day!

JESUS Messiah – Yeshua Hamaschiach (Hebrew) is COMING! Are you covered in the blood of Jesus? Have you repented of your sins so you can stand before Heavenly Father? Have you put your faith and trust in Jesus?

Scriptures are from KJV (King James Translation of the Bible).

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

When Jesus and His disciples shared the Last Supper together, he told them that HIS BLOOD was the new testament (covenant). Our God – Heavenly Father has been making covenants with His people since Genesis! A covenant is a strong and solemn binder between two people or peoples.

Because a covenant is a bond between peoples and this binding is a promise that involves God, the breaking of the covenant has consequences; people break covenants, but Heavenly Father NEVER breaks HIS covenants. When God made a covenant with Abraham in the Old Testament, he swore on his own self: Hebrews 6:13-14 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

One of my favorite examples of a Covenant in the Old Testament is between the son of King Saul and David who later became King of Israel.

1 Samuel 18:3-4 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

So when Jesus shared the Last Supper with His Disciples, He made a “NEW TESTAMENT” or in some translations new “COVENANT”.

To understand covenants more clearly, I suggest that you read and study these 13 books in the Bible. Start with 3 books of the Bible that are found in The Books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus and Deuteronomy. More Old Testament Covenants are also found in Joshua, Ruth, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Isaiah and Hosea. The New Testament books that talk about covenants are Matthew, Romans, Galatians and Hebrews.

The last two people who stood in the presence of God and walked with God in the Garden of Eden were Adam and Eve. Once they’d sinned, they could no longer enjoy this privilege. They had no idea of what exactly death was until God killed some animals and made them clothing from the skins of the animals. They were then banished from the garden and ever since man has been plagued by a sinful nature.

In the Old Testament, the shedding of blood or sacrifice at the alter of God was that of bulls, goats, sheep and doves. This ceremony was a graphic reminder and an atonement or a covering of the sins of the people; what I’d refer to as a wake-up call to the gravity of sin.

When Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, his blood became the New Testament; a covering of the sins of those who believe, repent, follow and have faith in Him. This new covenant put an end to ritual sacrifice found in the Old Testament because He was the ultimate sacrifice. Because of the sinful nature of man, no human can stand in the presence of God! This is why Jesus – Yeshua shed his blood for us…HE loved us that much!

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Colossians 1: 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

When we become believers, we are now citizens of the Kingdom of God! Our faith has saved us, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and we are no longer citizens of this world! We lean on the truths found in Scripture and we listen to the Spirit as it works inside of us…read the following Scripture and let it sink in.

Luke 17: 20-21 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Yes! He will be bringing His Kingdom back to earth, it says so in Revelation, that those who are followers and believers of Christ, both dead and alive shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye and we’ll return to earth with Jesus so that the earth and it’s inhabitants can be judged and then the earth will be handed back to Heavenly Father by His Son. When we pray the Lord’s prayer, we express knowledge that we know that our Father’s Kingdom is coming. We the children of God are His Kingdom! Because we are cloaked in the righteousness of His son Jesus, His Will…will be done on this earth as it is in Heaven. The earth will be renewed and we’ll once again have the privilege of walking, talking and communing in harmony with our Father in Heaven.

Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This verse tells us why it’s so important to share the Gospels and the Kingdom of God with our fellowman while there’s still time.

1 Peter 1:8-9 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

It’s just a fact that the Holy Spirit comes to dwell inside you when you become a follower of Jesus and His Spirit gives us His Wisdom and His Revelation as we read and study His WORD! We then rejoice in the knowledge that He LOVES us! In the “Old Testament”, before the “New Testament” or covenant was revealed by Jesus to His disciples, the children of God recognized that a Savior would come someday and we would live forever in the Kingdom.

Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Verse 6 of Psalm 23 cherishes the knowledge that those who trust in the Lord will dwell in HIS house forever!

The Gospel Inspires Change

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

All Scriptures from the KJV (King James Version of the Bible).

From darkness to light!

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

When we consider and think about the time that Jesus the Messiah – Yeshua Hamaschiach walked this earth, all of His miracles, His teachings about love and forgiveness; according to John 21:25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if they were written one by one, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written.

It’s difficult for us as Christians to comprehend that as he died on the cross for us and after all he’d done and said, that there were people on this earth still walking in darkness. Much to my sorrow, there are so many people today who walk in darkness; some of these people actually prefer the darkness. However, there are others who haven’t heard the message proclaimed to them in such a way as to wake them up and make them desire with all of their heart to walk in the “LIGHT”.

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

Without light, the entire world would quickly die as the bitter cold would encompass us… the planet as we know it would no longer exist. If you don’t have Jesus in your heart and in your mind, you’re walking in darkness and there’s nothing truly good in your life; the new car, the new house, the growing 401K, the evening out of dining, dancing and drinking are but a futile search for what is really good and it can’t be found in things or places of this earth.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Jesus – Yeshua is that GOOD and PERFECT gift who came to this earth to die for our sins and save us because HE LOVES us…and to be honest, I ‘m not 100% certain that I fathom that kind of love. He truly is the Light, His love warms us and protects us from the evil one. The light that Jesus gives us is the light that exposes our sins and wake us up to the fact that we need a Savior. His death on the cross to attain forgiveness from Heavenly Father for our sins lit the path to our salvation. Through faith, love and repentence we walk in His light and HIS LIGHT is eternal life!

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

When you become a follower of Jesus, you walk from the darkness into the “LIGHT”. You are changed forever! Everything you do is for the “Glory of God” and every thought you have is for the “Glory of God.” 1 Chronicles 16:11-12 seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.12 Remember his marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

From death to life!

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

When we believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He gave us His only begotten Son to die for us, we’re saying that we trust HIS WORD and that we know and accept that HE would never lie to us. This trust is the beginning of faith and faith brings us from death and damnation to eternal life in Jesus.

Jesus makes it perfectly clear throughout the Scriptures that HE is the ONLY WAY to eternal life, that HE is the door (the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE) and that HE is our mediator/counselor between us and our Father in Heaven. Now nothing can separate us from God because Jesus died for us!

Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Luke 20:38 or he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob physically died thousands of years before Jesus Christ, but Jesus tells us that they are alive…WHY? Because they believed God’s promise of salvation.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

From sin to salvation!

Mark 10:45 (HCSB) For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life—a ransom for many.”

When God created us, He created us for fellowship with Him! He walked in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. He created us to not only believe what He tells us, but to LOVE, WORSHIP and PRAISE HIM for His blessing of our life as well as the blessings of all of creation! He didn’t create man last because we were an afterthought, He created everything for us and then He even gave us a day, the Sabbath, so that we can know that it’s okay for us to rest from our labors. Adam and Eve were the first ones to betray that relationship and sin against God. Cain, son of Adam and Eve and the brother of Abel, was the second to betray the relationship with God and sinned by killing his brother Abel in a fit of jealousy because God preferred Abel’s blood sacrifice over his fruits and vegetable sacrifice. Men like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and many others understood the meaning of the blood (the representation of Christ’s sacrifice) and that the sacrifice of blood atoned for sin and that the sacrifice was a proxy for the death of the person.

Romans 5:12-15 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

James 1:12-15 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Jesus did not have to die for us…He’s GOD! He could have left the cross anytime HE wanted to, but HE chose to suffer and die for us because He loved us to atone for OUR SINS. For those who believe He’s the Son of God and repent from our sins, we are covered in and protected by HIS BLOOD and have been saved!

So today is the day! So in faith and trust, make a clean break from sin and confess you sins to God asking Jesus to intercede for you!

Are You Guilty of Not Sharing Jesus?

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

All Scriptures taken from KJV King James Version of the Bible.

Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamaschiach (Hebrew) compels us to share HIM, HIS WORD and HIS KINGDOM with our family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, and YES – even strangers. If we truly love ALL people as Jesus instructs us in the 2nd greatest commandment, we will share His Love for us and warn them of the consequences of not believing that HE’s the Son of God and that HE died for our sins and that they need to repent and turn away from sin and ask Jesus into their hearts to be their savior.

Matthew 22:36-39 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the first and great commandment.39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

The fact is that Jesus is COMING SOON! If someone you know or have had the opportunity to meet dies tonight will you be able to stand before God on judgement day and convince HIM that you have satisfied the “Great Commission” and had done all that you could to save others from Hell?

Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The truth is that as long as were sharing the Gospel of the Kingdom out of love and fear for the eternal soul of our fellow man it doesn’t matter if they become angry with us. John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. It’s better that they are angry at this moment in time, than to have them cry out on the day of judgement “you never told me!” There’s a constant war waging for our souls and because mankind loves the fleshly pleasures of sin, when we tell them about Jesus, they feel guilty because their sin is being exposed to the “Light”, guilt can cause remorse, but it can also cause them to dig in and reject the message unashamedly. It’s difficult for many to give up the sin of this world. However, sometimes as soon as people recognize that they’re walking down the wrong path, they can find the right path. It’s up to us to show them the right path and after that, it’s between them and God.

As a Christian, my deepest concern is that someone I know or have met will stand before Jesus and point at me and would be able to say that I never told them that they were going down the wrong path. “They never told me about you! Why is it they get to be in heaven and I don’t?

“You Never Mentioned Him to Me” Lyrics:

When in the better land before the bar we stand, How deeply grieved our souls will be; If any lost one there should cry in deep despair, “You never mentioned Him to me.”

CHORUS: You never mentioned Him to Me. You helped me not the way to see; You met me day by day and knew I was astray, “Yet never mentioned Him to me.”

O let us spread the word _ where e’er it may be heard Help groping souls the light to see, That yonder none may say, “You showed me not the way.” You never mentioned Him to me. (CHORUS)

A few sweet words may guide a lost one to His side, Or turn sad eyes on Calvary; So work as days go by, that yonder none may cry, “You never mentioned Him to me.” ( CHORUS)

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samari and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

This is Jesus talking to His disciples (about 120 followers) before His ascension up to Heaven after being seen for 40 days after His resurrection. Now, keep in mind that on the day of Pentecost which now commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles, it wasn’t just the 12 disciples that received the Holy Spirit, it was ALL who believed. When you truly believe, you have no doubt that the Holy Spirit has entered into you! So in this sense, ALL BELIEVERS become “preachers of the GOSPEL”, not necessarily in the sense of standing behind the pulpit with a weekly sermon as that is the common definition of who a preacher is. But we become bearers of the “GOOD NEWS” of the Gospel that God has a plan to reconcile us to Himself through His Son Jesus-Yeshua. That because of His LOVE and COMPASSION for us, He sacrificed His One and Only Son.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The Apostle Paul asks in Romans 10:13-17 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Before the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the Apostle Paul, he had been a persecutor of the followers of Jesus – Yeshua. He was known as a Zealot and he had a passion and dedication to God. He was well educated in the Bible and as a Jew, he knew God, but he didn’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah and as the Son of God. He was filled with self-righteousness because of his knowledge. When Jesus met him on the road to Damascus and asked Paul why he was persecuting Him, He took the zeal that Paul had for God and repurposed it so that Paul would carry the Gospel to the Gentiles. Both the Hebrew and the Greek words from which our KJV derives the words zeal zealous, and zealot are words which have the basic meaning of heat, the word can also indicates excitement of mind, ardor, fervor of spirit, zeal is embracing, pursuing, or defending anything and in the case of Paul, He became the defender of the Gospel. In today’s way of interpreting this zeal, we say that we’re “ON FIRE for JESUS”.

1 Corinthian 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Warning others of the imminent end of the world and the consequences of sin isn’t just a “New Testament” calling. The “Old Testament” is filled with warnings. Here’s an example of an OT message from Ezekiel a Prophet of God.

Ezekiel 33:1-10 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?

To put it mildly, in spite of all the warnings given throughout the entire Bible and especially in the Gospels and the ramping up of events in Revelation, the world will be surprised and shocked when Jesus comes again!

Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

If you haven’t read Revelation, I suggest that you do so right now! It’s the only book in the Bible that tells us right from the beginning of it that you will be blessed for reading it.

So for those of us who have been given the Holy Spirit to guide us, we must obey the command to communicate to everyone around us the Gospel, we must fulfill the “Great Commission”.

Matthew 24:37-39 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

*** I would like to thank my friend Dixie for sharing with me the song that inspired this post.

The Truth Will Set You Free! John 8:32

Are you struggling with truth?

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Scriptures are from King James Version of the Bible KJV.

Unfortunately for most of us we choose to live in the world when we should be choosing to live in the WORD! We choose to pursue “possessions” instead of God. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:19-24 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The Biblical definition of Mammon, biblical term for riches, often used to describe the debasing influence of material wealth. The term was used by Jesus in his famous Sermon on the Mount and also appears in The Gospel According to Luke. Medieval writers commonly interpreted it as an evil demon or god.

Probably right now, you’re thinking that “I’m not rich”! I want to tell you that if you live in the USA or most European countries, YOU ARE RICH! Right here in the good old USA, we have poor people living on the streets, you are by far richer than any of them…okay…I hear you…you’re probably saying “well, that’s their choice”. I’ve heard myself say it and now when I look back upon those words, I cringe! We can never know the circumstances of why they’re where they are if we don’t ask and try to make a difference! There are people fighting for a piece of cardboard just to shelter them from the weather for one night because if it rains or snows, the cardboard turns to mush…YES…right this moment, that’s happening someplace in this world…maybe right here in the USA, almost right in your back yard! In some countries, the people are foraging through other people’s trash just for a bite of food or a piece of clothing to cover themselves. Here in the USA, most of us have a closet full of clothes and shelves full of groceries, newer car, a nice house or apartment, the latest cell phone and TV sets in every room. We’d go out to dinner several times a month until this covid-19 hit us! I’m not casting stones at anyone, I’m telling the TRUTH of the matter and I’m just as guilty as anyone else out there of turning my nose up and my gaze the other direction when I’d see someone in need.

Truth hurts, especially when we don’t like what we’re hearing!

Now you may be asking what does any of this have to do with truth? Here’s the truth of the matter…ANYTHING that takes us away from a life dedicated to JESUS can be called mammon! Jesus Christ ~ Yeshua Hamaschiach (HEBREW) makes it perfectly clear in scriptures that there’s a right way and a wrong way and He’s the RIGHT and ONLY WAY! When the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, we’ll know the TRUTH and because of our belief in Jesus and obedience to His commandments, we will have eternal LIFE! 2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. I pray you realize that this scripture isn’t referring to us to be rich monetarily…it’s to be rich in fruits of the spirit.

John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

When we accept Jesus into our lives as Lord and Savior, we’ve unlocked our sinful hearts and invited the Holy Spirit to move in. Essentially, we’re announcing to the world that we want to know the truth and that we want to live according to the WORD of GOD. Because of our new found faith, now we MUST WALK AWAY from the World! From that moment forward everything we think, say and do is for the Glory of God! We become Christ-Like in our attitudes and actions and because of our belief that He’s the Son of God, we’re covered with HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS! Romans 2:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Are you all talk and no action? Just saying we LOVE others is not enough, because our deeds are the fruit of our faith! We’re called to plant seeds of Gospel in everyone we meet. 1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. We’re called to help our fellow man both spiritually and physically and for God to present opportunities to us so that we may fulfill His commission. We’re called to testify to what our faith in Jesus has completed in our lives and to be thankful for ALL of his gifts…including the gift of waking up to another day so we can serve Him. YES!!! We are called to serve Him and to worship HIM in prayer, song and rejoicing and most important of all, it’s essential that we study His Word so we will know Him and understand what He expects of us as one of His children. Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Think about the concept of service…now be TRUTHFUL! Are you mostly self-serving…most people are, unfortunately it’s part of being in the flesh and until you desire and allow the spirit to work in you, the flesh will win out. Do you have a tendency to say, I’d like to help, but I don’t have the time or I think that’s a good cause, but I already have plans (maybe the plans are a movie or dinner with friends or family, maybe it’s a shopping spree that you’ve been thinking about for weeks, maybe it’s a football game or a hunting expedition). Have you ever thought about how these things will all fade away someday and all that will be left is what you gave to God? So I ask you…are you laying up treasures on earth or in heaven? Colossians 3:1-3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

James 2:14-16 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

So the TRUTH is that being a Christian is serving God and others!

Can We Share the Gospel by our Lifestyle?

Scriptures are from Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Romans 10:11-15 “Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame, 12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. 14 But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!

Jesus said to his disciples in Mark 16:15Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

Luke 14:23 “Then the master told the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and lanes and make them come in, so that my house may be filled.

Who is the master and who is the slave in this parable.?

Romans 1:1 Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God’s good news—Romans 6:22 But now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification—and the end is eternal life! We are told that we are God’s Slaves 1 Peter 2:16 As God’s slaves, live as free people, but don’t use your freedom as a way to conceal evil. Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus: To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons.

Throughout the New Testament, it’s quite clear that the followers/disciples of Jesus are slaves and we’re expected to go out and share the Gospel! The Master of course is Jesus. He’s planning on having a full house of those who love Him.

According to my understanding, a disciple is a dedicated follower of a teacher…so like the original 12 disciples, as Christians, if we are dedicated to following Jesus, we also become HIS disciples (SLAVES). Putting that into context with all of the things that Jesus taught the original 12 disciples (APOSTLES) in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, can we truly preach the Gospel of Jesus and Salvation without mentioning sin, hell and the day of judgement? If we don’t mention these things, how will anyone realize what they’re being saved from? Can we truly expect people to recognize their need for a Savior if someone doesn’t inform them that they need to be saved? Can we really live a lifestyle that would make someone curious about why we’re so nice? My thoughts are that the answer to these questions is a resounding NO! I used to believe, partially because I was told by many Christians including Pastors, that there’s such a thing as “lifestyle Evangelism”. I’m sincerely questioning that concept now… I can’t find anyplace in the Bible that it says our commission is to live like a nice guy and others will figure it out. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met are atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, nature worshipers, etc. Here’s the crux of the matter: THEY DON’T HAVE JESUS CHRIST ~ YESHUA HAMASCHIACH(Hebrew) as their SAVIOR! I believe that I’ve failed in my commission if I don’t tell them about Jesus and what he did for mankind. His sacrifice of dying on the cross for “ALL” sins and our belief and repentence; we will not have to pay the price and the penalty of burning in HELL. Jesus has paid it ALL!

Acts 20:26-28 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of everyone’s blood, 27 for I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole plan of God. 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock that the Holy Spirit has appointed you to as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.

This was the Apostle Paul speaking to the church at Ephesus as part of his farewell speech because he was certain that he was never going to see them again. He was on his way to Jerusalem and hoped to arrive in time for the Pentecost, knowing full well that the Jewish authorities were planning on arresting him. Paul made it very clear that we must always be prepared to share the “WHOLE” plan of God with everyone. The elders of the church were there, but so was the entire church body, so I don’t think that we can say that his statement wasn’t inclusive of everyone listening.

Ezekiel 3:16-21 Now at the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman over the house of Israel. When you hear a word from My mouth, give them a warning from Me. 18 If I say to the wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ but you do not warn him—you don’t speak out to warn him about his wicked way in order to save his life—that wicked person will die for his iniquity. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood. 19 But if you warn a wicked person and he does not turn from his wickedness or his wicked way, he will die for his iniquity, but you will have saved your life. 20 Now if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, and I put a stumbling block in front of him, he will die. If you did not warn him, he will die because of his sin and the righteous acts he did will not be remembered. Yet I will hold you responsible for his blood. 21 But if you warn the righteous person that he should not sin, and he does not sin, he will indeed live because he listened to your warning, and you will have saved your life.”

Doesn’t it make sense that what God said to the prophet Ezekiel pertains to disciples today? Ezekiel is the watchman over the house of Israel and Christians are watchman over today’s church with Jesus as the head. In Ezekiel’s time, faith wasn’t a common place term, as a matter of fact, faith is only mentioned 2 times in the OLD TESTAMENT…now that doesn’t mean that faith didn’t exist, after all, Abraham, Moses, David and many others displayed their faith in God by following his directives. The prophets such as Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, Hosea, Malachi and many more all faithfully foretold of the coming Messiah. Even Psalms tell us of the resurrection of the Messiah. So the Israelite had faith that God’s prophets were telling the truth about the coming Messiah.

We who have Jesus Christ, the propitiation of the promise of the Messiah, must recognize that whether it’s in the Old Testament or the New Testament: God doesn’t change…He’s the same yesterday today and forever. So if He told Ezekiel to warn people about sin and tells them that he and they will die if He doesn’t tell them, then why would He expect anything different from believers today?

Solomon writes in Proverbs 24:10-12 If you do nothing in a difficult time,
your strength is limited. 11 Rescue those being taken off to death, and save those stumbling toward slaughter. 12 If you say, “But we didn’t know about this,” won’t He who weighs hearts consider it? Won’t He who protects your life know? Won’t He repay a person according to his work?

Do you say to yourself, “let somebody else do it”? Do you think that as long as you believe that Jesus died for your sins, there’s nothing else for you to do?

Matthew 9:37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.

Matthew 5:11-12 “You are blessed when they insult and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of Me. 12 Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 20:21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory.

Witnessing is a double bonus: It not only shows a fellow human the path to salvation, it helps you to learn more about God’s Word.

Philemon 1:6 “I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us[a for the glory of Christ.”

Colossians 1:10 “so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.”

2 Timothy 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,”

Is there really such a thing as a “Harmless Lie”?

Scriptures are from Holman Christian Standard Bible

Is any lie okay?  What about white lies?  Isn’t a well-intentioned lie still a lie?  Can a trusting relationship withstand a lie of any sort?  Can the “omission” of truth be considered a lie?  We’ve all heard the old saying “what they don’t know won’t hurt them”.  Shouldn’t we always tell the truth? Whether it’s a child or an adult, the thing about a lie is that in most cases the truth always comes out and quite often, someone or all are left hurting. The truth doesn’t generally cause the pain, it’s the fact that someone whom you thought cared for you, would actually lie to you!

We raise our children telling them that they should always tell the truth and that telling the truth will make them trustworthy.  Then along comes “traditional worldly events” and we create some of the most fantastic, implausible and the biggest of lies…JUST FOR FUN!  I’m not throwing stones here…I’m guilty too and oh how I desire that I could go back in time and rewrite my script! But since I can’t, this is the next best thing…sharing it with you.

The closer I walk with God, the more I recognize that He hates lies of every sort.  The book of Proverbs has many verses about lying:  Proverbs 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue, only a moment. Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are detestable to the Lord, but faithful people are His delight. Proverbs 15:4 The tongue that heals is a tree of life, but a devious tongue breaks the spirit.  As parents, it’s our job to reinforce honesty in all aspects of our children’s lives.

I have often asked the question: why we live in such a time? A time when so many young people (for the past 40-50 years) are falling away from belief in Jesus.  Could it possibly be that the lies we tell our children have grown and grown to the proportion of eroding away the truth – the BIBLICAL TRUTH?  Lying is ultimately the work of the devil. Jesus taught us in John 8:44 “You are of your father the Devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of liars.”  Keep this verse in mind…what if the lies we tell our children today affects their Salvation or Our Salvation? In that context, was it really that much FUN?

If I had it to do over, I would think very carefully about the fantasies such as Santa Claus & Elves, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. that I so willingly spun with the sanction of this corrupt world, never giving it a moment of thought because it was the way I was raised and everybody else is doing it too.  Foolishly, although I realized that these fantasies weren’t real, I didn’t recognize them as being lies! Yikes! That’s pretty scary to know that I was that “Blind” to the consequences of these so called harmless stories that are nothing but lies.

This blog is going to focus on the lie of Santa Claus, I’ve heard that some people like to celebrate Christmas in July and although, I don’t believe Jesus was born in December or July I thought this was as good of time as any to talk to you about this lie. To put it to you gently, Christmas has become more about Santa in the last 150 years than it is about anything to do with Christ’s Birth. My plan, hopefully, is to educate you enough that you’ll take the time to study it for yourselves.

We’ve really got it wrong in so many ways – so here goes! Have you ever noticed that Santa has been given most if not all the attributes of Heavenly Father? I’m going to name just a few…it’s up to you to look into this. I just want to raise your awareness. Santa is OMNISCIENT: he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows when you’ve been bad or good…so on and so on. Santa gives GOOD GIFTS to children who behave and who mind their parents (4th commandment – honor thy father and thy mother). Children who don’t behave will receive nothing. Heavenly Father gives eternal life to those who love Jesus and obey Him and eternal damnation to those who follow Satan. Santa is OMNIPRESENT: in 24 hours, he can visit every home on the planet that celebrates Christmas. Santa is OMNIPOTENT: he has the power to carry and deliver billions of presents all over the world. The one that really gets me the most is: Santa is Coming Soon! Another lie has been neatly wrapped about this “jolly old elf”. In Webster’s dictionary, 1828: “ELF…a spirit, the night-mar; a ghost, hag, witch”. The Scriptures tell us that JESUS is COMING SOON! Santa even has elves to carry out his many tasks. Jesus has Angels who minister to Him and carry out his instructions. If you stop to think about it, doesn’t it make you sick that Satan has stolen OUR SAVIOR’S IDENTITY and given it away to a fantasy! The most gut wrenching part of this picture is that we as Christians, who should know better, have let Satan get away with this and we’ve helped him in the deception.

The Puritans of England during Cromwell’s reign did their best to stamp out Christmas because of it’s supposed celebration of Christ’s birth that incorporated idol and wealth (mammon)worship and pagan-oriented Saturnalia (the ancient Roman festival of Saturn in December) of immorality and the pursuit of pleasure. Sadly the Puritans didn’t have it completely wiped out before Victorian times came along. The Christmas tree became part of the celebration when Prince Albert who was wed to Queen Victoria brought this tradition from Germany with him to England. Then there’s the Dicken’s Christmas Carol and A Visit from St. Nicholas a poem by Clement Clark Moore (The Night Before Christmas), both stories that perpetuated the lie. Then Church’s famous letter Yes Virginia, there’s a Santa Claus actually sealed the deal. Published in the SUN newspaper in 1897, families across America read this story and loved it. These stories have been turned into books, movies, etc and rated as family entertainment and somehow we take the word of others to help us to decide that this is suitable entertainment for our children.

If you decide to study the pagan origins of Christmas, you’ll be rethinking your relationship with the entire celebration…not just Santa! The truth is that Santa isn’t a “harmless lie” if there ever was any sanctity in Christmas (which I don’t believe there ever was or is today) it’s been usurped by our desire to exalt this lie to proportions beyond all conceptions! Here’s one more wake up call! Santa has the same letters as Satan, just rearranged.

WE NEED to WAKE UP!  This world is a dangerous place, especially for a Christian child and it’s up to us to arm our children.  Ephesians 6:11-20 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with TRUTH like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. 16 In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.

Now I ask you again – simply put:  “Is there really such a thing as a “harmless lie”?

Paul calls Christians to stop lying in Colossians 3:9  Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices

Truth shows us love, but lies do not. Ephesian 4:25 Since you put away lying, Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

Truth permeates the Bible from beginning to end…afterall, we’re in sin today because of the lie of Satan to Eve in the Garden of Eden.

1 John 2:21 I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth.

I pray that I’ve struck a chord with someone reading this and they’re rethinking their association with Santa and Christmas. If you have children or grandchildren, this is an important topic and possibly a threat to the eternal Salvation of You and Them. Most important of all, when you realize that you have been taking part in a lie, is that you ask God’s forgiveness and sin no more!

We Must Stand Firm in the Word of God!

The Bible, God’s word, is the absolute truth.

ALL Scriptures are King James Version Bible.

There is only one truth! There’s no such entity as gray when it comes to God’s word…there’s only black and white…plainly spoken so all who Love God will understand. During the next few months, when the world of politics becomes “over-heated” as it does every 4 years, if we are truly followers of Jesus, we must plan on taking a deep breath and turning the other cheek! Matthew 5:38-39 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

As Christians, we need to recognize that God is in charge all of the time! That we can argue about politics if that’s how we want to waste our time, but ultimately God chooses in order to carry out HIS WILL! In the meantime, because of our Christian outlook, we may be under attack and the attacks may be made by someone we feel close to and they may accuse us of not being Christian because we view an issue from a different perspective. They don’t see through the lens of the Bible as we do. They might say “if you really LOVE everyone, you’ll agree with me because I’m right” or “if you really LOVE everyone, you’ll not judge them”. They don’t realize the difference between judging someone and trying to counsel them by exhortation using the word of God. 2 Timothy 4:2-5 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

If the person who’s trying to change our minds becomes belligerent or even attacks us with profanities, etc, we must not allow them to stir up anger in us. We need to forgive them and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and truly think about “What would Jesus do?” 1 Peter 3:8-10 Now finally, all of you should be like-minded and sympathetic, should love believers, and be compassionate and humble, not paying back evil for evil or insult for insult but, on the contrary, giving a blessing, since you were called for this, so that you can inherit a blessing. 10 For the one who wants to love life and to see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit,

We need to keep in mind at all times that we are ALL made in the image of God and that, we are ALL his children, no matter what our politics, no matter where we or they may stand on any of the issues. Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

I’m not trying to say that everyone who doesn’t see the way you see hates you, but it may feel to you like they do. They may not even realize the pain they’ve caused you. Remember, that as long as we believe Jesus is the Son of God and we obey God; following the directives of His word, we’ll get through it…maybe a little bruised, but prayerfully and hopefully we’ll arrive at the end of it with a deeper and stronger conviction to share the WORD of God through any and all means that He provides.

1 John 4:7–8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

As Christians, we are accused of being callous because we disagree with certain lifestyles, perceived social injustices, many so called philosophies. But what they don’t understand is that a Christian still loves the person, but we hate the decisions they make and the life they’ve chosen. Not because we want to be unkind or put ourselves above them, but because we LOVE them and don’t want them to burn in HELL’s fire. When we’re accused of being unloving, maybe what the accuser doesn’t realize is that God is not only LOVE, but he’s also the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE and everything in this fallen world that doesn’t line up with Scripture is wrong, NOT BECAUSE WE SAY it’s WRONG, but because GOD says it’s wrong and when the Holy Spirit lives in us, we also recognize that it’s wrong. If it isn’t in sync with God’s word, it’s a lie…and Jesus makes it clear that Satan is the father of lies. At every opportunity, Satan will take the truth and warp it out of shape until humans can’t see they are being deceived. This is why we need to turn to the Scriptures to seek the truth. Even Jesus faced adversity when He was on earth. Jesus spoke these words to the Pharisees and Scribes when they accused Him of being from the devil. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

So what is the actual purpose of a Christian in this fallen world? Jesus tells us to LOVE GOD with all our heart and to LOVE our NEIGHBOR as ourselves. So when we LOVE GOD, we also believe, follow and obey His word. This is why HE gave us the Bible – His WORD, so there would be no misunderstandings. So if you haven’t opened your Bible lately…today is the day…
