“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”
Genesis 1:26 KJV
Have you ever wondered why there seems to be such hatred and confusion spreading through our world — especially toward the very nature of what it means to be human? In recent years, I’ve noticed something heartbreaking: so many people, searching for identity or belonging, end up turning against themselves. They harm their own bodies, they lose sight of who they are, and they often do it believing they are finding freedom. Yet behind the veil of rebellion and self-destruction lies a much older story — one that began long before humanity was born.
As I looked more closely, I began to understand something deeply sobering: Satan’s hatred toward the human race is rooted in one powerful truth — we are made in the image of God.
From the very beginning, the devil has sought to destroy anything that reflects the beauty, purity, and authority of God. He cannot touch God Himself, so he strikes at what bears His likeness — us. When we see lives being distorted, identities confused, and innocence attacked, we are witnessing a war on the divine image woven into every human soul.
But even in the midst of that darkness, there is a light that cannot be extinguished. Jesus loves us right where we are. He doesn’t wait for us to be perfect, and He doesn’t condemn us for being lost. He came to rescue, restore, and remind us of who we truly are — beloved children of God, created with purpose and worth.
This blog explores that truth: why Satan hates humanity, how he tries to destroy the image of God in us, and how the love of Jesus breaks through every lie. My hope is that as you read, you won’t feel judged or rejected, but seen, valued, and drawn closer to the One who made you in His image and calls you His own.
The Image of God in Humanity
When God created mankind, He did something He had never done before. He didn’t simply speak humanity into existence as He did the animals or the stars. Instead, He shaped man from the dust with His own hands and breathed His very life into him.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”
Genesis 1:26 KJV
That divine breath made us living souls. We are capable of love, creativity, reason, and moral choice. We were created to reflect God’s nature on this earth: His compassion, His purity, His wisdom, and His joy. The image of God is not about appearance; it’s about essence. It is the spiritual reflection of who He is, written into the very fabric of our being.
But since that day in the Garden, the enemy has done everything he can to cloud that reflection. Sin brought separation, and darkness began its work in the human heart. Satan’s strategy has always been the same — to confuse, corrupt, and consume. He attacks the mind, because it is there that the knowledge of God takes root.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 KJV
Yet even in this darkness, hope remains. The same God who breathed life into humanity still breathes new life into every heart that turns to Him. No deception, no distortion is stronger than the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. He restores what sin and Satan have tried to destroy.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
When Christ enters a life, the fog lifts, and the image of God once hidden beneath the ashes begins to shine again.
The Ongoing War Against the Image
Since the fall of man, the battle has never been about nations or politics alone; it has always been about the soul. The enemy’s goal has not changed since Eden: to twist what God created as good, confuse what God made clear, and destroy what God declared sacred.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” John 10:10 KJV
Every generation has faced its own version of this war. In our time, it often hides behind the language of freedom, self-expression, and personal truth. But beneath those promises lies the same old deception — the subtle whisper that we can redefine what God has already made perfect.
We see it in the confusion over identity, where people struggle to understand who they are and why they were made. We see it in the devaluation of life, where the innocent are sacrificed and the vulnerable are forgotten. And we see it in the corrosion of moral clarity, where good is called evil, and evil is celebrated as good.
This war isn’t fought with visible weapons. It’s waged in minds and hearts. Satan knows that if he can distort how people see themselves, he can separate them from how they see God. The image of God is his target — because it is the one thing in creation that mirrors the Creator Himself.
The Enemy’s Attack on the Body
One of Satan’s cruelest weapons in our modern age is the distortion of the body itself…the visible reflection of God’s handiwork. Humanity was formed by God’s own hands and declared “very good.” But the enemy, filled with hatred toward that divine craftsmanship, seeks to corrupt and deface it in any way he can. He whispers lies that turn self-expression into self-destruction. What begins as an attempt to be unique or free can become a form of bondage, a slow erasing of the beauty God intended. Each piercing meant to shock, each mark made in rebellion, often hides a deeper wound: a spirit searching for identity, love, and meaning outside of its Creator. The tragedy is that the more a person alters or harms the image God gave them, the less they can recognize the divine beauty that was there all along.
Even so, Jesus sees you. He knows your heart. He loves you. No matter what has been done to your body, mind, or spirit, His grace reaches you. He calls you to turn to Him, to see yourself as He sees you, and to trust that the life He offers is greater than anything the enemy can steal. You were created with a purpose, and in Christ, that purpose shines eternally.
“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9 KJV
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV
One of the enemy’s newest tactics in this ongoing war is the deception of counterfeit spirituality, where people reach for connection and transcendence through harmful means. Some truly believe that drugs, self-destruction, or rebellion will draw them closer to divine truth. But these paths only deepen the darkness and distance the soul from the true Light.

and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” John 10:9 KJV
