Do you trust Heavenly Father with every day, every moment of your life? Do you make plans and then feel distraught when things don’t turn out the way you think they should? Do you spend your entire day fretting about things that you have absolutely no control over? Think of the months and years of people’s lives wasted as they’re spent worrying about money, politics, children, the latest fashions, the latest technology. Becoming obsessed about the latest and greatest new vehicle or desiring newer/bigger house to hold more things (a vicious circle back to money and how do you pay for it?) Do you worry about what people think of you and do you focus on your self image? Don’t you realize that worry brings you into a place of darkness…a place where you have forgotten about your faith and trust in Heavenly Father? First of all, you must realize that tomorrow is not in our hands. No one on this planet knows what tomorrow brings. The only thing we know about “tomorrow” is that it’s unknown to us and is only known to the Father. The one thing we do know is that we can trust HIM with more than tomorrow…we can trust the Father with our eternity.
Jesus – Yeshua instructs you about your future by giving you two simple choices: Believe in Him and Obey!
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Jesus – Yeshua tells us in no uncertain terms that we have no power over tomorrow! We really do have enough going on today that we need to be focused on or need to be concerned with without worrying about what’s going to happen tomorrow. One thing is for certain…worry will never provide a solution to your problems, He commands us to seek the Kingdom of God first, and of course, that means seeking the King of that Kingdom, Jesus Christ the Messiah – Yeshua HaMashiach (Hebrew). When we seek His righteousness, this also means obeying His commands. And when we believe and obey, God will add “all these things” for our tomorrow.
Proverbs 27:1 Don’t boast about tomorrow, for you don’t know what a day might bring.
Hebrews 9:27-28 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment— 28 so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.
There’s no getting around it…everyone on this earth has an appointment with death and if you’re a Christian, you also know that judgment will follow. So everyday that we live we must be sure we’re in a right relationship with Heavenly Father. We can share the Gospel of Jesus – Yeshua and sing praises of thanksgiving about our gift of eternity because of our Savior’s work on the cross at Calvary.
James 4:13-16 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” 14 You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes. 15 Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
Every day of our life, we need to pray as Jesus taught us… for the Father’s will to be done and then accept that whatever happens, it’s HIS plan. Remember no matter what happens, we need to obey Heavenly Father, and then fully trust in Him. Have “NO FEAR”! If we open our eyes, we can’t help but witness His miracles all around us every moment of our existence, so why would we think that we need to run for the hills or hide. It’s ALL in HIS HANDS!
Isaiah in the Old Testament and Paul in the New Testament both brought forth this prospect to an obstinate people: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die”. They aren’t telling people it’s okay to be immoral, to the contrary…I see these verses as an exhortation to the people who believe that they have “all the time in the world” to make up their mind to live a life for Heavenly Father and reflect Jesus in their thoughts actions and deeds. They are being reminded that their lives are truly “just a vapor” that could end any moment.
When Paul was writing to the church at Corinth, he was telling them how the gospel and our salvation completely depends on the sinless life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote, “What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die” (1 Cor 15:32). His point is that if salvation and being raised from the dead are not true, we might as well eat and drink (quite frankly…go ahead…paint the town red – party hearty!), because tomorrow we die. Paul’s commentary is in reference to the belief that some held then and some still hold today that this is all there is.
Paul tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Of course, it’s only natural for mankind to talk about tomorrow and the things we have planned to do or places we plan to go, but no one knows if tomorrow will even come for any of us, so when the plans we make or things change, there’s no point in being disappointed, because Heavenly Father always has a plan…he knows the “beginning and the end”. We must learn to accept the fact that we are not in control, learn to be patient and just get through today in faith and confidence; knowing full well that HE keeps all of HIS promises and that HE Loves us…
So the next time, you’re feeling anxiety and you’re losing sleep over a situation that you can’t control…STOP! PRAY and GIVE it to your Father in Heaven! Only HE has the “POWER” over what will happen. But keep in mind too, that HIS time clock may not be your time clock and when you pray for HIS WILL to be done…LET IT GO and live for today.
Happy New Year!
I pray that 2021, your faith in Christ brings you nearer to our Father in Heaven!
