More than a Conqueror

Romans 8:31-39

The blood of Jesus saved us from our sins! But did you know that faith in Him fills us with a strength we could never find on our own? A strength beyond our fleshly hearts and minds could ever imagine! It’s not just a physical strength; it’s a supernatural strength that carries us through battles we could never face alone.

This is the strength that steadies a mother who sits beside a hospital bed, praying for her child when fear tries to overwhelm her. It’s the strength that lifts the weary father or mother who works long hours, unsure how the bills will be paid, yet they choose to trust God one more day. It’s the strength that comforts the grieving widow or widower in the quiet hours of the night when the house feels too empty and the memories feel too heavy. It’s the strength that helps someone forgive when the wound is deep, or to keep believing when every door seems closed.

His strength whispers hope into the heart of the person who feels forgotten, reminding them they are seen by God, held by God, and strengthened by His unfailing love.

This kind of strength doesn’t come from us.
It comes from Him—the One who makes us more than conquerors. It’s the truth when I tell you…YOU are more than a conqueror! The HOLY SPIRIT now lives inside you, and Scripture tells us “the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world,” 1 John 4:4

Romans 8:31 “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

This life is full of fires that seem to encompass us. On our own, we can’t see our way through the smoke. Sometimes, we endure battles that we have no idea of what or how they were caused. And the mountains, oh, those mountains that seem like more than we can surmount; however, a believer knows that when God is for us, none of them has the final word. Not one!

No matter the storm, whether it’s the loss of a job, the heartache of a broken relationship, the weight of illness, or the fear of uncertainty, we can trust that God’s love and support are far greater than any adversity we encounter. Recognizing that God is in control eases any helplessness or struggle we might face… knowing that we’re never alone. Whether it’s sickness, debt, or what may seem like impossible circumstances, instead of despair, we find supernatural wisdom and calm as you seek His guidance. His presence strengthens you, lifts you, and makes you more than a conqueror through Christ.

This is the very essence of being “more than a conqueror“, it’s not just the victories we see with our eyes, it’s the inner triumph over fear, doubt, and despair. It’s knowing that the power of Christ within us is greater than any challenge we face outside of us.

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

The very same God who allowed His own Son to be sacrificed for our salvation will never hold back when it comes to helping us in every area of life. He gave His most precious gift, Jesus Christ, so that we could be forgiven. How much more will He provide those who trust in Him?

We can rest in the assurance that God is not stingy with His help. His love is abundant, His power limitless, and His presence constant. The sacrifice of Jesus is the ultimate demonstration of His willingness to go to extraordinary lengths for our good. This should encourage us to turn to Him without hesitation, confident that He will supply everything we need to stand strong, overcome, and walk in victory.

We are reminded that His love is active and generous. We are not left to fight life’s battles alone. The God who gave His Son will also freely give us everything necessary to rise above every challenge we face.

Romans 8:33-34 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

These questions, by Paul, are rhetorical…he’s not asking for information, he’s making bold and true statements. Paul’s rhetorical questions are ultimately a trumpet of assurance: God’s love and power are absolute, His protection is unwavering, and His generosity is beyond measure. Paul emphasizes that once we’re in the hands of God, NO ONE, no force of darkness, no accusation, no worldly power, can successfully make a charge against us. We have HIS Divine protection from the darkness of this world. God has justified us because of our faith in HIS SON and because we LOVE HIS GIFT! The world may whisper, “You’re not enough,” but you’re built on THE ROCK, and nothing can dislodge us from our foundation or our belief in Jesus-Yeshua, who brings justification and intercedes for us with Heavenly Father. His resurrection silenced every voice that rises against us.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Trouble in this world will not separate a believer from Jesus-Yeshua; it will serve to reinforce in every fiber of the believer’s heart and mind that their strength can only come from the one who loved us enough to die for us. The storms of this world may shake our lives, but they cannot shake His love, and even in moments when it seems the storm will never end, God’s love is a foundation that cannot be moved.

We love God because He first loved us, and we cherish His gift, the salvation secured by Jesus’s sacrifice on the Cross. Our love for Him fuels our faith, anchors our hearts, and strengthens our trust in His promises. When trials come, when fear and doubt rise, this love reminds us that we are not alone. We are under the care of the One who gave everything for our eternal good.

Romans 8:36-37 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

These verses underscore the promise that we are “more than conquerors“. We’re not barely surviving the fiery darts of the deceiver. We’re not holding on to our Salvation by a thread. But we’re overflowing in victory because the love of Christ empowers every step. It penetrates the darkest nights and the deepest valleys, reminding us that our worth, our purpose, and our victory are secure in Him. Each challenge becomes a reminder that His love is not conditional or fleeting; His Love is eternal, unwavering, and more than sufficient to carry us through every trial we face.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This song on YouTube moved me deeply as I reflected on God’s love and the truth that we are more than conquerors through Christ. I pray that as you read this blog, the words of this song surge through your spirit, giving you strength, courage, and peace.

Heavenly Father, fill each reader with Your strength and love. Remind them that no trial can separate them from You, and let them walk boldly, knowing they are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ’s name I pray. Amen.

Jesus is first in my life, and as a result, my existence in this world is bearable; I want nothing less than every day of my life to bring Him glory. I'm continuously watching and praying for Him to come again. “I desire to share the Kingdom of God with anyone who will listen (Matthew 28:19–20), because time is short and Jesus will call His people home before the coming Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; 1 Corinthians 15:51–52; Revelation 3:10). I cherish the beauty of the world He created for us (Genesis 1:31; Psalm 19:1), and though Scripture tells us that this present earth will one day pass away and be renewed (2 Peter 3:10–13; Revelation 21:1), I want to honor His creation and care for it well until He calls us to meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17).” I love people, animals, birds, trees (I'm a tree hugger), flowers (roses are my favorite), the snow, the rain, the wind, and the sunshine. I realize how blessed I am to live now and be born in a country that allows freedom of speech and religion! Free to share my thoughts and illumination. I also realize that there are consequences to everything I share with you, so I'll always ask God's wisdom while writing and before I publish. ALL questions are welcome! I can't promise I'll be able to give you the answer you want, but I'll answer honestly and with scriptures from the Bible. I use many different Bible translations as my resources. The NIV, NKJV, the KJV, and the HCSB are a few.
