2 Timothy 3:1-5 But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, 4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people!
Actually, the description of mankind in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 has been the signs of our emerging societies since the fall in the Garden of Eden. Mankind has displayed these evil characteristics since Abel was murdered by his brother Cain. Regrettably time has only served to magnify the hideousness of these traits. The flood was a temporary elimination of the problems, unfortunately for all of us, it’s results were short-lived.
We’ll start with Canaan, a grandson of Noah, who was cursed by Noah as a result of the actions of his father Ham. The land that Canaan settled was given to his uncle Shem and the land that was given to him, he turned away from. If you carefully read the scriptures, you’ll see that the land called Canaan was populated by 12 tribes: the Sidoions, Hittites children of Heth, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. These are the nations that were holding the land of Canaan when Moses sent Joshua and other Israelite men to scout it out as they prepared to enter in. It was these men that came back and told Moses that Nephilim are in the land and they were afraid because they were giants and the Israelites were as grasshoppers in comparison. These 12 tribes of Canaan were people that God wanted completely destroyed from the land. I personally believe that when God flooded the entire world, it was not only to rid the world of sin, but to destroy the Nephilim who were Giants and the offspring of fallen angels. It’s obvious that somehow, the bloodline of fallen angels had made it onto the ark, possibly through the wife of Ham, because it’s made clear that Noah had not sinned against God.
Noah’s great-grandson, Nimrod (son of Cush and grandson of Ham), who was the king of the land of Shinar was responsible for the construction of the Tower of Babel which was an attempt to reach Paradise. This is when Heavenly Father decided it was time to confuse the language so that the people would have to disperse upon the Earth as this was His plan from the beginning. The people congregated with others who were speaking a similar language and they then migrated all over the Earth becoming the foundation of the nationalities and civilizations we know today.
From the birth of Noah’s grandson Arphaxad (s0n of Shem), two years after the flood, until the birth of Abram was only 292 years (how soon we can forget history). Noah lived 350 years after the flood and Shem 500 years. Abram’s life overlapped Noah’s life by 58 years. According to Genesis 25:7 Abram whom our Heavenly Father renamed Abraham lived for 175 years. According to Jewish tradition, Noah, Shem and Abraham lived together for 39 years. Abraham is the Patriarch of the Hebrew nation Israel.
Genesis 15:5-6 (God) He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.” 6 Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.
Therefore Nimrod a great-grandson of Noah and Abraham 8th generation great-grandson of Noah, both lived pretty much at the same time in the scope of history and they both knew Noah as well as the history of the flood and why God had made the decision to destroy the entire world. It seems unconscionable that in the brief period of time that Noah lived after the flood – only 350 years, knowing full well the penalty that the world had paid for it’s sins that the world was already descending right back into sin.
2 Timothy 3:10-17 But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance, 11 along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all. 12 In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13 Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, 15 and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
This past year, I read a book entitled “Hearts of Fire”. It was 8 stories about 8 courageous women who showed me what persecution is in today’s world. These 8 women were faithful and committed to Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach. They endured physical, mental and emotional pain beyond anything I could conceive. They were tenacious in there refusal to bow down and determined to share the Gospel of Christ at any cost!

Is any lie okay? What about white lies? Isn’t a well-intentioned lie still a lie? Can a trusting relationship withstand a lie of any sort? Can the “omission” of truth be considered a lie? We’ve all heard the old saying “what they don’t know won’t hurt them”. Shouldn’t we always tell the truth? Whether it’s a child or an adult, the thing about a lie is that in most cases the truth always comes out and quite often, someone or all are left hurting. The truth doesn’t generally cause the pain, it’s the fact that someone whom you thought cared for you, would actually lie to you!
We raise our children telling them that they should always tell the truth and that telling the truth will make them trustworthy. Then along comes “traditional worldly events” and we create some of the most fantastic, implausible and the biggest of lies…JUST FOR FUN! I’m not throwing stones here…I’m guilty too and oh how I desire that I could go back in time and rewrite my script! But since I can’t, this is the next best thing…sharing it with you.
The closer I walk with God, the more I recognize that He hates lies of every sort. The book of Proverbs has many verses about lying: Proverbs 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue, only a moment. Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are detestable to the Lord, but faithful people are His delight. Proverbs 15:4 The tongue that heals is a tree of life, but a devious tongue breaks the spirit. As parents, it’s our job to reinforce honesty in all aspects of our children’s lives.
I have often asked the question: why we live in such a time? A time when so many young people (for the past 40-50 years) are falling away from belief in Jesus. Could it possibly be that the lies we tell our children have grown and grown to the proportion of eroding away the truth – the BIBLICAL TRUTH? Lying is ultimately the work of the devil. Jesus taught us in John 8:44“You are of your father the Devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of liars.” Keep this verse in mind…what if the lies we tell our children today affects their Salvation or Our Salvation? In that context, was it really that much FUN?
If I had it to do over, I would think very carefully about the fantasies such as Santa Claus & Elves, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. that I so willingly spun with the sanction of this corrupt world, never giving it a moment of thought because it was the way I was raised and everybody else is doing it too. Foolishly, although I realized that these fantasies weren’t real, I didn’t recognize them as being lies! Yikes! That’s pretty scary to know that I was that “Blind” to the consequences of these so called harmless stories that are nothing but lies.
This blog is going to focus on the lie of Santa Claus, I’ve heard that some people like to celebrate Christmas in July and although, I don’t believe Jesus was born in December or July I thought this was as good of time as any to talk to you about this lie. To put it to you gently, Christmas has become more about Santa in the last 150 years than it is about anything to do with Christ’s Birth. My plan, hopefully, is to educate you enough that you’ll take the time to study it for yourselves.
We’ve really got it wrong in so many ways – so here goes! Have you ever noticed that Santa has been given most if not all the attributes of Heavenly Father? I’m going to name just a few…it’s up to you to look into this. I just want to raise your awareness. Santa is OMNISCIENT: he sees you when you’re sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows when you’ve been bad or good…so on and so on. Santa gives GOOD GIFTS to children who behave and who mind their parents (4th commandment – honor thy father and thy mother). Children who don’t behave will receive nothing. Heavenly Father gives eternal life to those who love Jesus and obey Him and eternal damnation to those who follow Satan. Santa is OMNIPRESENT: in 24 hours, he can visit every home on the planet that celebrates Christmas. Santa is OMNIPOTENT: he has the power to carry and deliver billions of presents all over the world. The one that really gets me the most is: Santa is Coming Soon! Another lie has been neatly wrapped about this “jolly old elf”. In Webster’s dictionary, 1828: “ELF…a spirit, the night-mar; a ghost, hag, witch”. The Scriptures tell us that JESUS is COMING SOON! Santa even has elves to carry out his many tasks. Jesus has Angels who minister to Him and carry out his instructions. If you stop to think about it, doesn’t it make you sick that Satan has stolen OUR SAVIOR’S IDENTITY and given it away to a fantasy! The most gut wrenching part of this picture is that we as Christians, who should know better, have let Satan get away with this and we’ve helped him in the deception.
The Puritans of England during Cromwell’s reign did their best to stamp out Christmas because of it’s supposed celebration of Christ’s birth that incorporated idol and wealth (mammon)worship and pagan-oriented Saturnalia (the ancient Roman festival of Saturn in December) of immorality and the pursuit of pleasure. Sadly the Puritans didn’t have it completely wiped out before Victorian times came along. The Christmas tree became part of the celebration when Prince Albert who was wed to Queen Victoria brought this tradition from Germany with him to England. Then there’s the Dicken’s Christmas Carol and A Visit from St. Nicholas a poem by Clement Clark Moore (The Night Before Christmas), both stories that perpetuated the lie. Then Church’s famous letter Yes Virginia, there’s a Santa Claus actually sealed the deal. Published in the SUN newspaper in 1897, families across America read this story and loved it. These stories have been turned into books, movies, etc and rated as family entertainment and somehow we take the word of others to help us to decide that this is suitable entertainment for our children.
If you decide to study the pagan origins of Christmas, you’ll be rethinking your relationship with the entire celebration…not just Santa! The truth is that Santa isn’t a “harmless lie” if there ever was any sanctity in Christmas (which I don’t believe there ever was or is today) it’s been usurped by our desire to exalt this lie to proportions beyond all conceptions! Here’s one more wake up call! Santa has the same letters as Satan, just rearranged.
WE NEED to WAKE UP! This world is a dangerous place, especially for a Christian child and it’s up to us to arm our children. Ephesians 6:11-20 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. 12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. 13 This is why you must take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with TRUTH like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest,15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. 16 In every situation take the shield of faith, and with it you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.
Now I ask you again – simply put: “Is there really such a thing as a “harmless lie”?
Paul calls Christians to stop lying in Colossians 3:9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old self with its practices
Truth shows us love, but lies do not. Ephesian 4:25 Since you put away lying, Speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.
Truth permeates the Bible from beginning to end…afterall, we’re in sin today because of the lie of Satan to Eve in the Garden of Eden.
1 John 2:21 I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
I pray that I’ve struck a chord with someone reading this and they’re rethinking their association with Santa and Christmas. If you have children or grandchildren, this is an important topic and possibly a threat to the eternal Salvation of You and Them. Most important of all, when you realize that you have been taking part in a lie, is that you ask God’s forgiveness and sin no more!
We’re in a mighty battle! Have you ever thought of yourself as a soldier? Paul tells Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:3-4 (KJV) Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
John 17: 11 (KJV) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
When we follow Jesus and share the Gospel with others, we become His disciples; God has given us to Him. The very moment we accept Jesus as our Savior, Satan begins an onslaught of attack, so Jesus asked His Father to protect us in this world. The world is being overrun by Satan as he prowls around looking for someone to destr0y. As humans, we are in a constant battle within ourselves as we fight against our sinful nature, but the fight is actually against the enemy: Satan and his demons.
Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) said in a Sermon on June 26, 1870 A soldier is a practical man, a man who has work to do, and hard, stern work. He may sometimes when he is at his ease wear the fineries of war, but when he comes to real warfare he cares little enough for them; the dust and the smoke, and the garments rolled in blood, these are for those who are soldiers; and swords all hacked, and dented armour, and damaged shields, these are the things that indicate the good, the practical soldier. Truly to serve God, really to exhibit Christian graces, fully to achieve a lifework for Christ, actually to win souls, this is to bear fruit worthy of a Christian. A soldier is a man of deeds, and not of words. He has to contend and fight. In wartime his life knows little of luxurious ease. In the dead of night perhaps the trumpet sounds to boot and saddle, just at the time when he is most weary, and he must get up for the attack just when he would best prefer to take his rest in sleep. The Christian is a soldier in an enemy’s country always needing to stand on his watchtower, constantly to be contending, though not with flesh and blood, with far worse foes, namely, with spiritual wickednesses in high places.
As a Christian it’s impossible for us to travel through this world if we aren’t wearing the full “Armor of God” which includes Prayer!
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice evermore.17 Pray without ceasing.18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Our dangerous journey through this world is not because Satan has dominion over this world, but the fact is, it’s just because he is here…he was cast out of Heaven to the Earth when there was the war in Heaven and now he and his cohorts are on this Earth prowling around and trying to cause all the damage they can before Jesus comes again. But the Bible makes it very clear that Satan is the “Father of Lies”. So we must all be extremely careful of what we believe expecially when we hear if from others…check and recheck against Scripture! That includes what you read that I’ve written; I pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take the time to check it out for yourself.
I’m bothered by the churches and clergy that teach during the time in the wilderness that Jesus was tempted by Satan. I will not believe that Jesus was EVER tempted by Satan! I do believe that Satan was working his wiles trying to figure out if there was a weak spot in the Son of Man…he was hoping that he could attack the human side of Jesus. Once again, I say…when this time is referred to as “the temptation of Jesus”, I’m stunned that anyone who knows Jesus can make such a statement.
Matthew 4:8-10 Again, the Devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 And he said to Him, “I will give You all these things if You will fall down and worship me.”10 Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him.” We must all realize that Jesus wasn’t actually tempted by Satan…He knew exactly what Satan was up to and used and perfected the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word to put Satan in his place! The Bible makes it explicitly clear that the Heavens and the Earth belong to God (JESUS is GOD – They are ONE)…the earth does NOT belong to Satan!
PSALM 24 KJV The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. 7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
All throughout the Bible, Scriptures have made it quite clear as to the ownership of the Heavens and the Earth. Who the King is…the Earth has always belonged to Him right from the beginning when He created it. He then sacrificially bought and paid for us with His blood, so now for those who believe in Him, we are His too John 3:16! His Kingdom will reside here on the New Earth and those who love and follow Him will reside with Him.
His Holy Spirit resides in us! But in the meantime, because Satan is here on this earth (cast down after the war in Heaven), we are given instruction of how to fight and protect ourselves on this Earth. We are warned and warned over and over against the lies that Satan will tell us. The first lie was to Eve when he told her that she “surely would not die” if she ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The lies that he’s perpetrated since the Garden of Eden have done nothing but create hatred and discontentment among the humans who were made in the image of God. Satan’s goal is to take as many as possible with him to the fires of Gehenna! https://jesusamazinggrace.com/2020/03/23/lets-not-soft-peddle-hell/
Nowhere in the Bible can I find where God or Jesus has said that it’s going to be easy for us til He comes again. In John 14:16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; He did promise the Holy Spirit as our comforter , teacher and guide…this is why it’s so important to be “born again”, so that the Holy Spirit will live inside you. We have a glorious future with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven that will come to the New Earth and we will have the crown of eternal life with Him!
The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
***To think that we are heirs to “His power and might! That because Jesus is in us when we’re born again, we receive a portion of His power so that we can fight along side of Him throughout our journey of Faith.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
***If we don’t have the whole armor of God, we are vulnerable to attacks from the enemy…Satan!
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
***Jesus is the Light! Light overcomes darkness! When we have Jesus, the darkness cannot overcome us! John 8:12 KJV Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
***We need to study and understand what it is that is expected of us, otherwise, we are floundering in this world and have no direction in our lives. Romans 15:4 KJV For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
***Jesus says in John 14:6 KJV I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
***We must share the GOOD NEWS! The Gospel of Jesus Christ! John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
***the faith that we have in Jesus the Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach (Hebrew) will protect us to the end! 2 Thessalonians 3:3 KJV But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
***STUDY the BIBLE! JESUS is the WORD made FLESH! We cannot know him if we do not read the Word. The helmet fits on the head and it’s our minds as well as our hearts that we give to Jesus! John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Mark 11:24 KJV Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
We’re in a mighty conflict here (the earth is full of sin) the army of the Lord (those of us who are “born again” and the Holy Spirit lives in us) we must join forces standing tall (the church) and lean upon his word (the sword of the Spirit) the enemy (Satan) is now in view and bravely circles round (Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places) then comes the cry from the battle field (the earth) another soldier down (the martyrdom of the followers of Christ)…go then with haste, stand by his side and lend your strength (truth and righteousness) once more go bear him up with faith (shield of faith) & prayer until battle’s o’er (When Jesus Comes Again!) the fight before the victory (He rose from the dead), the cross before the crown, (Jesus had to die to save us from our sins…he became sin for us so that His righteousness would cover us) be ever watchful ere the cry another soldier down
We’ve set our minds on victory (Jesus’s victory on the cross) advancing day by day we’ve got our hopes our strategy (the Gospel of Jesus), armed fortress (His Holy City will come down from Heaven) on the way and at the end there is a rest (1000 years)an everlasting crown (the crown of eternal life James 1:12 KJV Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.) all in the field no more will hear (the earth will finally have PEACE!) another soldier down
repeat: the fight before the victory the cross before the crown be ever watchful ere the cry another soldier down another soldier down another soldier down
Billy Graham (1918-2018) The Gospel, as you know, always faces opposition. This is spiritual warfare, and we’re not going to back down. We are going to preach this message in all the cities we planned to visit. God hasn’t called us to sit back and be quiet. He has called us to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19, NKJV).
***I use quotes by Billy Graham as often as possible because his life spanned two centuries and he really experienced the onslaught of evil of this world as we spiral quickly to the end of the age. I believe Billy Graham was the greatest evangelist since the Apostle Paul. To learn more about him:
