What is GOD’S WILL for you?

Like Paul… are you willing to be a prisoner of the LORD?

What is God’s will for you?  Are you ready to accept His authority and fully cooperate with Heavenly Father?  Do you allow the Spirit of God to lead you and make you lie down in green pastures?  Do you walk through this world as an ambassador of Christ? Did you know that in order to follow the will of God and to walk His path, we must strive to be “worthy of God“?

As Paul said:

Ephesians 4:1-2 Therefore I, the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to “walk worthy of the calling you have received”, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love,

Are you ready to answer the calling of the Lord to share HIS GOSPEL?

Do you only seek the Lord’s will according to your own will?

Do you walk in the freedom of your own self-will? The secular definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. 

Jesus tells us in John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Like a magnet, are you drawn to things that your “heart and conscious” tell you aren’t good for you or those around you?  Do you recognize these warnings are the Holy Spirit attempting to guide you away from harm bodily and spiritually?  You truly believe this one time won’t matter when you knowingly choose a path that leads you away from Salvation? After this one time, you’ll do better tomorrow?

WOE! WOE! WOE!

Hebrews 10: 26  For if we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire about to consume the adversaries.

Has Christ become Victorious in your life?

Have you allowed the crucifixion of the old man in YOU? Do you realize that true freedom is only achieved when Christ lives in You? According to what Paul tells us:

Ephesians 2:1-5 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

Hebrews 10:29-31 How much worse punishment do you think one will deserve who has trampled on the Son of God, regarded as profane the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay,] and again, The Lord will judge His people. 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God! 

Our daily struggle is with the powers of this world! Satan, Lucifer, that Devil of old – the prince of darkness has been leading this world towards hell from the beginning in the Garden of Eden when he seduced Eve in Genesis 3:4 convincing her that “she surely would not die”. Then Adam being seduced by Eve followed suit and disobeyed God. The first lie on earth brought us sin and more sin and today we can see the rotten fruit of it’s results. Since then, because of his pride and jealousy, Satan has wreaked destruction of mankind in every aspect of our existence; from the lies about evolution and millions/billions of years, the desire for corrupted entertainment (music, movies, etc), to wanton desires such as new cars, new clothes, new house, new husbands or wives -NEW! NEW! NEW! There are prosperity preachers today who preach wealth instead of Salvation! Sexual immorality thrives in an environment of “you have the freedom to do whatever feels good”! Murder of the helpless is accepted by the majority without even a blink! If you go on to YouTube, there’s false teachers and prophets aplenty! The USA probably has more Bibles per capita than any other country in the world and most of them are gathering dust.

For you to overcome, YOU must be willing to be restrained by Christ’s Spirit, start by reading your BIBLE and putting on the full armor of God and then PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach revealed His Father to the world through His ministry on this earth.  Most assuredly, He revealed to us the Father’s LOVE for His Creation: Mankind. His willingness to allow His Son to sacrifice himself on the cross to save us from our sins it the ultimate gift of GRACE!

1 John 4:7-12 Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and His love is perfected in us.

Romans 12:10-16 Show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not lack diligence; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. 13 Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. 16 Be in agreement with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

Hebrews 13:1-3 Let brotherly love continue. Don’t neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it. Remember the prisoners, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.

Ephesians 3:1-4 Therefore I, the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope at your calling—

Isn’t it awesome that Paul loved Jesus – Yeshua and his fellowman enough to suffer imprisonment and physical pain to share the Gospel. As children of God and brothers and sisters In Christ…sharing the Gospel isn’t a suggestion, it’s a command:

Matthew 28:19-20 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

It’s believed that Paul was a prisoner in Rome when he wrote Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. Although, he was a prisoner of the Roman government, he considered himself a prisoner of the Lord because he was following the “will of God” to preach the Gospel of the Christ to the world.

Will you Share the Gospel?

The principle of Evangelism is to bring our fellow man to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior.

The Bible teaches that as the church, we are the body of Christ. “We are to love the people of the world – Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach tells us:

Matthew 5:43-48  “You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing out of the ordinary? Don’t even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

We are here for this very purpose – to go into the nations and proclaim the Gospel to all who will hear.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

As the a member of the body of Christ I’m thankful that I’ve been blessed…I know Jesus – Yeshua died for me on the cross and that when I repented and turned away from my sins and put my trust in Jesus alone, that by His intercession, He will save me from Heavenly Father’s wrath. 

Here’s the hitch…there are many living on this earth, in this country and even in our town that don’t know Jesus. They don’t realize that they’re dead in their sins, because they don’t recognize what sin is.  They may have heard of someone named Jesus, but they have no idea of what He did for mankind or the consequences of their thoughts and actions, because they’ve never heard the Good News. 

 “Now once a man has thus been humbled by the Law (10 Commandments) and brought to the knowledge of himself, then he becomes truly repentant for the true repentance begins with the fear and with the judgment of God.  He sees that he is such a great sinner that he cannot find any means to be delivered from his sin by his own strength and effort of works.” (Martin Luther)

The Ten Commandments EXODUS 20: 1-17 (NIV)

And God spoke all these words:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. As I study the Bible I see that God’s plan for the church is much greater than man’s plans.  In the book of Revelation 2, there are 7 angels sent to convey Christ’s letters to 7 churches…when you read these letters to the churches, you realize that they all fall short in one way or another.  I’ve been told by many that these letters only pertain to the churches that existed in the early church or that they’re actually periods of time throughout history starting with the early church. Fast forward to today and I believe that these letters pertain to today’s churches too. How many of us are lukewarm? How many of us make time to read our Bibles and spend time getting to know God? How many of us honor His gifts (including waking up in the morning to have another chance to get right with Him)? How many of us stay home to watch football instead of worshiping Him with the congregation? How many of us stop to smell His roses, stop to enjoy His sunset or sunrise, gasp at the beauty of a new born baby created in His image? All glorious creations of God! Everywhere we look we are surrounded by His magnificence and wonders and the testimony of His creation is before us. When I study the 7 letters to the churches, I find myself desperately praying that as a congregation of followers, we will heed the messages in these letters and try our best to follow His plans for us and the world. 

Rejoice in the Lord

Philippians 4:4-9 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Why is Evangelism Necessary?

Is Evangelizing a scary concept?

Definition: Evangelism is the communication of the gospel message that includes a warning, an explanation, and a call to Salvation at the Cross by the blood of Jesus. Evangelism warns people about sin and it’s consequences.

John 16:8 When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment:

Acts 24:25  Now as he spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix became afraid and replied, “Leave for now, but when I find time I’ll call for you.”

People may become afraid or resistant when they hear about these things…just as Felix did when Paul preached to him. Keep in mind that the most important way to treat them is to talk to them as a friend, all the while being humble, loving and kind. Prayerfully, this approach will keep their attention while you present the subject of faith, repentance and obedience and ultimately that they are saved by GRACE and not by anything that they can do…that Jesus did it ALL for us on the cross. If someone doesn’t want to hear you or they brush you off, don’t be offended, don’t be afraid to talk to others because of what you consider to be a failure…we don’t need to know the outcome of the seeds we plant. We plant and Heavenly Father harvests.

Have you heard about the Great White Throne Judgment?

Revelation 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. 12 I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books.13 Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works. 14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Evangelism includes an explanation of God’s remedy for sin—the Gospel

Acts 8:29-35 The Spirit told Philip, “Go and join that chariot.” 30 When Philip ran up to it, he heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” 31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 Now the Scripture passage he was reading was this: He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb is silent before its shearer, so He does not open His mouth.33 In His humiliation justice was denied Him. Who will describe His generation? For His life is taken from the earth. 34 The eunuch replied to Philip, “I ask you, who is the prophet saying this about—himself or another person?” 35 So Philip proceeded to tell him the good news about Jesus, beginning from that Scripture.

God’s Righteousness through Faith

Romans 3:21-26 But now, apart from the law, God’s righteousness has been revealed—attested by the Law and the Prophets 22 —that is, God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe, since there is no distinction. 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Him as a propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed. 26 God presented Him to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be righteous and declare righteous the one who has faith in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Evangelism includes the clear call to REPENT! (to turn from sin and to turn toward God) and believe the gospel, by faith

Mark 1:15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe in the good news!”

Do you want to Repent or Perish?

Luke 13:1-5 At that time, some people came and reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. And He responded to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all Galileans because they suffered these things? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well! Or those 18 that the tower in Siloam fell on and killed—do you think they were more sinful than all the people who live in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well!”

Acts 17:29-31 Being God’s offspring then, we shouldn’t think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image fashioned by human art and imagination.30 “Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, 31 because He has set a day when He is going to judge the world in righteousness by the Man He has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”

Romans 1:17 For in it God’s righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

Romans 10:9-13 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. 11 Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame, 12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him. 13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

WHO’s going to tell them?

It’s so true that social media has become a major part of our lives and I see this as both a blessing and a curse! It depends on how you plan to use the social media platform…if it’s for the Glory of God, then I believe you may be headed in the right direction. If it’s for entertainment and controversial subjects such as politics, etc, if you find yourself arguing with friends, family and strangers, then maybe it’s not good for you or the Kingdom. So, at first thought, it might seem like a good idea to have an account on all the major social media platforms, but soon you’ll find that there’s only so many hours in the day and spending your day posting and responding to comments; it may not be satisfying or productive. However, with Covid-19 being a concern, for the time being, it may be your best way for now to spread the Gospel.

The principle of Evangelism is to bring our fellow man to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior. We must not be complacent…sometimes I think that Americans are the most complacent people on earth. We need to wake up as the day will come when His mercy will end, so we must not take His mercy for granted, share the Gospel while there’s still time!

When Jesus – Yeshua called His disciples, he chose them from all walks of life, but He started his ministry with 4 fisherman: Simon Peter and his brother Andrew and James and John, the son’s of Zebedee.

Matthew 4:19 “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people!”

It would be a good idea to read the entire chapter of Matthew 10 as it tells the disciples of their commission to go out and preach the Gospel, He warns them of the pitfalls…

Matthew 10:16 Jesus said…”Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves… so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

Matthew 4: 17 And as ye go, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Facing the beginning of the END…

Difficult Times Ahead

2 Timothy 3:1-5 But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people!

Actually, the description of mankind in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 has been the signs of our emerging societies since the fall in the Garden of Eden. Mankind has displayed these evil characteristics since Abel was murdered by his brother Cain. Regrettably time has only served to magnify the hideousness of these traits. The flood was a temporary elimination of the problems, unfortunately for all of us, it’s results were short-lived.

We’ll start with Canaan, a grandson of Noah, who was cursed by Noah as a result of the actions of his father Ham. The land that Canaan settled was given to his uncle Shem and the land that was given to him, he turned away from. If you carefully read the scriptures, you’ll see that the land called Canaan was populated by 12 tribes: the Sidoions, Hittites children of Heth, Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. These are the nations that were holding the land of Canaan when Moses sent Joshua and other Israelite men to scout it out as they prepared to enter in. It was these men that came back and told Moses that Nephilim are in the land and they were afraid because they were giants and the Israelites were as grasshoppers in comparison. These 12 tribes of Canaan were people that God wanted completely destroyed from the land. I personally believe that when God flooded the entire world, it was not only to rid the world of sin, but to destroy the Nephilim who were Giants and the offspring of fallen angels. It’s obvious that somehow, the bloodline of fallen angels had made it onto the ark, possibly through the wife of Ham, because it’s made clear that Noah had not sinned against God.

Noah’s great-grandson, Nimrod (son of Cush and grandson of Ham), who was the king of the land of Shinar was responsible for the construction of the Tower of Babel which was an attempt to reach Paradise. This is when Heavenly Father decided it was time to confuse the language so that the people would have to disperse upon the Earth as this was His plan from the beginning. The people congregated with others who were speaking a similar language and they then migrated all over the Earth becoming the foundation of the nationalities and civilizations we know today.

From the birth of Noah’s grandson Arphaxad (s0n of Shem), two years after the flood, until the birth of Abram was only 292 years (how soon we can forget history). Noah lived 350 years after the flood and Shem 500 years. Abram’s life overlapped Noah’s life by 58 years. According to Genesis 25:7 Abram whom our Heavenly Father renamed Abraham lived for 175 years. According to Jewish tradition, Noah, Shem and Abraham lived together for 39 years. Abraham is the Patriarch of the Hebrew nation Israel.

Genesis 15:5-6 (God) He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.” Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.

Therefore Nimrod a great-grandson of Noah and Abraham 8th generation great-grandson of Noah, both lived pretty much at the same time in the scope of history and they both knew Noah as well as the history of the flood and why God had made the decision to destroy the entire world. It seems unconscionable that in the brief period of time that Noah lived after the flood – only 350 years, knowing full well the penalty that the world had paid for it’s sins that the world was already descending right back into sin.

***Noah was Abraham’s great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great-grandfather!

Struggles in the Christian Life

2 Timothy 3:10-17  But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance, 11 along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from them all. 12 In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13 Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, 15 and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

This past year, I read a book entitled “Hearts of Fire”. It was 8 stories about 8 courageous women who showed me what persecution is in today’s world. These 8 women were faithful and committed to Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach. They endured physical, mental and emotional pain beyond anything I could conceive. They were tenacious in there refusal to bow down and determined to share the Gospel of Christ at any cost!

Look Back On His Blessings and you will find that they are too numerable to count! Heavenly Father is always faithful, and if we look at the past year, we’ll find that HE has been with us, and has been working in our lives – even when we don’t realize it!

Lamentations 3: 22-24 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Heavenly Father has plans for our lives, and they’re plans to help us prosper!

Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Don’t Worry About What Is To Come…

Heavenly Father is with us in the new year, and we don’t need to worry about anything when we focus on HIM. HE is our strength, HE is with us and we have nothing to fear.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Tomorrow May Never Come!

Do you trust Heavenly Father with every day, every moment of your life? Do you make plans and then feel distraught when things don’t turn out the way you think they should? Do you spend your entire day fretting about things that you have absolutely no control over? Think of the months and years of people’s lives wasted as they’re spent worrying about money, politics, children, the latest fashions, the latest technology. Becoming obsessed about the latest and greatest new vehicle or desiring newer/bigger house to hold more things (a vicious circle back to money and how do you pay for it?) Do you worry about what people think of you and do you focus on your self image? Don’t you realize that worry brings you into a place of darkness…a place where you have forgotten about your faith and trust in Heavenly Father? First of all, you must realize that tomorrow is not in our hands. No one on this planet knows what tomorrow brings. The only thing we know about “tomorrow” is that it’s unknown to us and is only known to the Father. The one thing we do know is that we can trust HIM with more than tomorrow…we can trust the Father with our eternity.

Jesus – Yeshua instructs you about your future by giving you two simple choices: Believe in Him and Obey!

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus – Yeshua tells us in no uncertain terms that we have no power over tomorrow! We really do have enough going on today that we need to be focused on or need to be concerned with without worrying about what’s going to happen tomorrow. One thing is for certain…worry will never provide a solution to your problems, He commands us to seek the Kingdom of God first, and of course, that means seeking the King of that Kingdom, Jesus Christ the Messiah – Yeshua HaMashiach (Hebrew). When we seek His righteousness, this also means obeying His commands. And when we believe and obey, God will add “all these things” for our tomorrow.

Proverbs 27:1 Don’t boast about tomorrow, for you don’t know what a day might bring.

Hebrews 9:27-28 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment— 28 so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

There’s no getting around it…everyone on this earth has an appointment with death and if you’re a Christian, you also know that judgment will follow. So everyday that we live we must be sure we’re in a right relationship with Heavenly Father. We can share the Gospel of Jesus – Yeshua and sing praises of thanksgiving about our gift of eternity because of our Savior’s work on the cross at Calvary.

James 4:13-16 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” 14 You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes. 15 Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

Every day of our life, we need to pray as Jesus taught us… for the Father’s will to be done and then accept that whatever happens, it’s HIS plan. Remember no matter what happens, we need to obey Heavenly Father, and then fully trust in Him. Have “NO FEAR”! If we open our eyes, we can’t help but witness His miracles all around us every moment of our existence, so why would we think that we need to run for the hills or hide. It’s ALL in HIS HANDS!

Isaiah in the Old Testament and Paul in the New Testament both brought forth this prospect to an obstinate people: “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die”. They aren’t telling people it’s okay to be immoral, to the contrary…I see these verses as an exhortation to the people who believe that they have “all the time in the world” to make up their mind to live a life for Heavenly Father and reflect Jesus in their thoughts actions and deeds. They are being reminded that their lives are truly “just a vapor” that could end any moment.

When Paul was writing to the church at Corinth, he was telling them how the gospel and our salvation completely depends on the sinless life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote, “What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die” (1 Cor 15:32). His point is that if salvation and being raised from the dead are not true, we might as well eat and drink (quite frankly…go ahead…paint the town red – party hearty!), because tomorrow we die. Paul’s commentary is in reference to the belief that some held then and some still hold today that this is all there is.

Paul tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Of course, it’s only natural for mankind to talk about tomorrow and the things we have planned to do or places we plan to go, but no one knows if tomorrow will even come for any of us, so when the plans we make or things change, there’s no point in being disappointed, because Heavenly Father always has a plan…he knows the “beginning and the end”. We must learn to accept the fact that we are not in control, learn to be patient and just get through today in faith and confidence; knowing full well that HE keeps all of HIS promises and that HE Loves us…

So the next time, you’re feeling anxiety and you’re losing sleep over a situation that you can’t control…STOP! PRAY and GIVE it to your Father in Heaven! Only HE has the “POWER” over what will happen. But keep in mind too, that HIS time clock may not be your time clock and when you pray for HIS WILL to be done…LET IT GO and live for today.

The Sabbath

“‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.

The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread

“‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times: The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. On the fifteenth day of that month the Lord’s Festival of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. For seven days present a food offering to the Lord. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.’”

Offering the Firstfruits

The Festival of Weeks

15 “‘From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. 17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the Lord. 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the Lord, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before the Lord as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. The Festival of Trumpets

23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of sabbath rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. 25 Do no regular work, but present a food offering to the Lord.’”

The Day of Atonement

26 The Lord said to Moses, 27 “The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord. 28 Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. 29 Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. 30 I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32 It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”

The Festival of Tabernacles

33 The Lord said to Moses, 34 “Say to the Israelites: ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the Lord’s Festival of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. 35 The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. 36 For seven days present food offerings to the Lord, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the Lord. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work.

37 (“‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing food offerings to the Lord—the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. 38 These offerings are in addition to those for the Lord’s Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the Lord.)

39 “‘So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of sabbath rest. 40 On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees—from palms, willows and other leafy trees—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 Live in temporary shelters for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters 43 so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’”

44 So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed festivals of the Lord.

Let’s talk the 10 Commandments

This blog is inspired by the New Testament Book written by Paul as a letter to the Romans. Romans, chapter 7 has been viewed by some as confusing and difficult to figure out what Paul is talking about. I believe that what He’s saying is that the 10 Commandments or the Laws are “NOT A DEATH PENALTY”, but that doesn’t mean that they are void! The LAW is actually an expression of God’s Heart and the way HE wants us to live in this world. These LAWS were not just designed for the Children of Israel when He brought them out of Egypt, they were designed to show us WHO HE IS – the LAW is HIS VOICE speaking to mankind! So we should give it a 2nd thought when as a Christian we get angry because someone brings up the LAW! After all, HE gave us these LAWS for our benefit and correction! In Roman’s 7, Paul begins by talking about the humanity of Adam’s sinful nature which brought mankind death and Jesus’s righteousness which defeated death giving us victory over the death penalty of the LAW. I feel an essence of determination as Paul speaks of his own flaws and about the clash of his flesh and spirit; so in my eyes he’s telling us that as long as we’re alive, the “Letter of the Law” will be wrestling with the “Spirit of the Law”. This disagreement between the flesh and the spirit is why we continue to stumble and fall. This is why “WE NEED the SALVATION of JESUS CHRIST“. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to pick us up and put us back on the path of HIS Righteousness which can only be attained by HIS Blood that HE shed for us on the cross.

Therefore, although the 10 Commandments are no longer a death penalty for the believer, they are the way of life for how we are to live as Christians. This is why Paul was having such a struggle between his flesh and his spirit…his spirit desired for him to be in harmony with Christ.

2 Corinthian 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” ‭‭

WOW!!! A new identity! Has the “old man – woman” in you been crucified with Christ? Be honest with yourselves… are you doing your best to repent of your sin and to turn away from sin , or are you dragging your sin and the baggage of your “OLD LIFE” into a pretentious non-existent salvation because you refuse to let go of this world? Until you love and serve the Savior with all of your heart, mind and soul, you’re cheating on HIM! Frequently scriptures in the “OLD TESTAMENT” tells us that He’s a jealous God!

Psalm 79:5 How long, Lord? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy keep burning like fire?

The first commandment and the Greatest Commandment is to Love God! Matthew 22:36-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the first and great commandment.

When Jesus Messiah – Yeshua HaMashiach (Hebrew), enters into your life, more and more as each day passes, you come to be so “in LOVE” with HIM and so overwhelmed by the fact that He loved you so much that He died for you and that our Father in Heaven so loved us that He was willing to sacrifice His only begotten Son for our Salvation, that we are overcome by the desire to please and obey God. The knowledge of this sacrifice should become the motivation and the catalyst for your existence in this world. You should be overcome with a tremendous desire to do all that you do to glorify Jesus and your Heavenly Father.

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 I will also sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will place My Spirit within you and cause you to follow My statutes and carefully observe My ordinances.

When I hear people say that the “OLD TESTAMENT” has no bearing on who we are today as Christians, it’s almost shocking! We have been adopted into the family as the Children of God, the Heirs. Wasn’t it enough that He gave us His Son as a sacrifice? Why would we think that God changed His rules for us too? If you were to invite someone into you home, would you change the house rules? Would you say it’s okay for them to continue in the lifestyle they were living before they became a part of your family? Wouldn’t the other members who follow the rules of your family ask…why have you made it so easy for them to be a part of this family, yet so difficult for me?

Walking the path that Jesus shows us how to walk becomes a heart and head journey. Why does Jesus use and expound upon and clarify the 10 Commandments as a mirror to show the reflection of sin? For one thing, he’s making it perfectly clear that when you break any one of these commandments, you’ve broken them all. When he reiterates the commandment about adultery, he goes so far as to spell it out that “looking in lust” is committing adultery because you’ve partaken of sin in your heart. When you’re angry with your brother without cause, you are the same as a murderer. Not only does he tell us to love our fellowman, but to love our enemies too! In both the Old & New Testaments, God tell us that his people will follow him because “HIS LAW” is written on our hearts and in our minds. Following the 10 Commands that God laid down for His people becomes a privilege not a burden and when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us, he leads us. When we “KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, we are pleasing our Father in Heaven.

Chosen to be the children of God:

Deuteronomy 7.6 For you are a holy people belonging to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be His own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

WE HAVE BEEN SET APART! We are to look different, live and act differently than those who haven’t accepted Jesus as their Savior. We are to become a light in the darkness of this world! God gave the world the 10 Commandments that we might become obedient…and of course the 10 Commandments were not designed to save us! Jesus is the “ONLY” Salvation! Therefore, we need to embrace the WORD not the WORLD! Jesus came to earth as a man to give us a standard to live by and HE was “Obedient unto Death”! Obedience is not an option…in order for us to be a royal priesthood and a holy nation, we must become God’s children in every aspect of our lives! That’s not to say that we won’t stumble and fall, or that we can ever be perfect as HE was perfect, but we can know and recognize the “perfect will of God” and do our best to be faithful to Him to the end.

Many people who read Revelation become filled with fear…however, when we read Revelation, we’re told right at the opening of the book:

Revelation 1:3 The one who reads this is blessed, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near!

Revelation 14:12 This demands the perseverance of the saints, who keep God’s commands and their faith in Jesus.

Revelation 21:8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Without the LAW, how can we show someone that they’re walking down the wrong path? How can we say the Law no longer matters…until the sinner has repented and been covered by the blood of Jesus, it matters! We can’t do away with the “perfect nature of God”!

The Law of God or the 10 Commandments are not just a list of right and wrong, once again I reiterate, they are a reflection of the WHO GOD IS! They are a reflection of WHO Jesus is! Why is it so easy for a Christian to nonchalantly say: I don’t need to follow THOSE LAWS anymore. When HE says that HE will put them in our hearts and write them on our minds, does that make them less important than when they were written in stone on Mt. Sinai? And why would he write just some of the law on our hearts and in our minds? He didn’t say that he would write just portions of it in our hearts and on our minds…the scriptures say:

Hebrew 10:15-17 The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. For after He says: This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws on their hearts and write them on their minds, I will never again remember their sins and their lawless acts.

Jeremiah 31:33 “Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.

As Christians, we need to be careful of the language we use, especially when there are non-believers within hearing distance! Accepting Jesus as your Savior is the 1st step of many more steps to become pleasing to God…to become a child of God.

Who changed the Sabbath to Sunday?

The 4th Commandment is important to me because I want every aspect of my life to reflect the life of Jesus…Jesus was PERFECT and kept ALL of HIS FATHER’S commandments. I recognize that I can never measure up to Jesus, but with every fiber of my being I want to try to reflect Him in my life. I thank you Heavenly Father that belief in your son and His Sacrifice is Salvation and I have the choice through faith and obedience to become one of your children!

Emperor Constantine I Changed the Sabbath to Sunday on March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun. From that point in time, it slowly ebbed it’s way in to replace the Sabbath (day of rest) that was proclaimed by God after He created the Earth and ALL that’s on the Earth.

Genesis 2:1-3 So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.

What is the original Sabbath day? The Jewish people have kept the Sabbath (from Hebrew shavat, “to rest”) and it’s observed throughout the year on the seventh day of the week— which according to the Gregorian calendar (introduced in October 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII), instead of “SABBATH”, we now call it Saturday (named after the Roman God Saturn). According to biblical tradition, Sabbath commemorates the original seventh day on which God rested after completing the creation.

God, who is omnipotent (all powerful), does not require a day of rest, after all, he created the entire world in six days. However, man is just the opposite of God, we are powerless, so He designed a day of rest for us and it was also a day for us to commune with Him and get to know Him better.

4th Commandment:

Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: You are to labor six days and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. You must not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the foreigner who is within your gates. 11 For the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days; then He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and declared it holy.

Exodus 34:21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest: even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest”.

NOWHERE in the BIBLE does it say that “God our Heavenly Father” or “Jesus Messiah – Yeshua Hamashiach” changed the Sabbath or gave us permission to change it from the 7th day of the week to the 1st day of the week. According to the Scriptures Jesus kept Sabbath. The following scriptures all speak to the fact that Jesus was teaching and healing in the synagogue on the Sabbath:

Mark 1:21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.

Mark 6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Luke 6:6-11 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

Jesus didn’t abolish the Sabbath…as in so many other instances, Jesus was showing the people that the Sabbath had been “profaned” by the teachings of MAN! (PLEASE NOTE that throughout all the teachings of Jesus – Yeshua, not once did He say that any of the 10 Commandments of God had been taken away, as a matter of fact, he explained in more detail the commandments to reinforce their importance!) Yes! It’s true that God wrote the 10 Commandments on stone after they left Egypt and while they were in the wilderness with Moses, but that was because the Israelite tribes had been slaves of Egypt for 400 years and throughout that time, they’d lost touch with how God expected them to live. He didn’t give them the commandments to be a “death penalty” he gave them the commandments as a guidance or a book of rules to follow that would make them pleasing in His sight. The Christians today, believe that the 10 Commandments were nailed on the CROSS when Jesus died for our sins, but what they don’t recognize is that it was not God’s guidance that was nailed on the cross, it was all of the ceremonial laws that were in themselves a prophecy of the coming Messiah – Jesus fulfilled these prophecies as well as every prophecy in the entire Old Testament.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The definition of fulfil is to carry out, or bring to realization, as a prophecy or promise. to perform or do, as duty; obey or follow, as commands. to satisfy (requirements, obligations, etc.) The entire Old Testament is preparing us for the 1st coming of our Lord Jesus – Emmanuel -GOD WITH US! Jesus’s birth and ministry fulfills the prophecies of the Old Testament and The New Testament sets forth in detail exactly what Jesus expects of us as HIS followers. Ultimately, the Bible gives us God’s plan for Salvation beginning in Genesis and ending in Revelation.

Luke 13:10-16 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

Luke 14:1-5 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?

Matthew 12:1–8 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. This same account of Jesus and His disciples is repeated in Mark 2:23–28 and Luke 6:1–5. In all 3 accounts, Jesus tells us that He is the “LORD of the SABBATH”.

He reminds the Pharisees of David and the sacred bread and how the Priests had not shown mercy, but condemned them. I believe that He’s saying that the Priests have complicated the Law of the Sabbath and twisted it to their own interpretations. Jesus is not saying that the Sabbath is no longer valid. He’s saying “DO GOOD on the SABBATH”! and of course, we are to do good everyday.

Mark 2:27  And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

When man is referenced in the Bible, He’s not just talking about the Jews! He’s talking about Gentiles (ALL MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN). The SABBATH was kept during the time before and after the flood and before the children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (patriarch of the 12 tribes of Israel). The time period from creation until Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with the 10 Commandments was approximately 2500 years. So for those who say the Sabbath is for the Jews, they are missing the point that the Sabbath is for all mankind.

The apostles kept the Sabbath: in the book of Acts when Paul goes to Corinth, he’s taken into the home of Aquila and Priscilla (who were already followers of Jesus) and it is understood that he worked with them as a tent maker; every Sabbath, Paul went to the synagogue using the Scriptures (OLD TESTAMENT) to persuade both Jews and Greeks proclaiming Jesus to be the Messiah.

Acts 18:11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

That’s approximately 72 Sabbaths (I’m talking 7th day – that doesn’t include the High Sabbaths held during the feasts). I can’t help but believe that if the Sabbath had been changed, Paul and the other apostles would have used this book alone as an opportunity to make this change known to the Gentiles. So of course the Apostles didn’t change it! Aside from proclaiming the Gospel, it was the Apostles intention to emulate Christ in every aspect of their lives. So when Scripture tells us that keeping the Sabbath is referred to as a “custom”, that doesn’t make it any less important to God, it just means that from the beginning of time, God’s people had observed the 7th day as HIS SABBATH. If God hadn’t wanted us to observe the 7th day Sabbath he wouldn’t have started the 4th commandment by saying “REMEMBER”! He wouldn’t have declared it “HOLY” and “BLESSED! What God has made HOLY remains HOLY!

The Bible tells us in regards to the antichrist:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

So keep this in your minds…the 1st day of the week Sunday was chosen to be the Sabbath by a man or men…Sunday had for centuries before the time of Jesus had been a day that the Romans had consecrated to the pagan Sun God and that’s also where it gets the name of Sunday. It became the official day of rest in the Roman Empire, making it the day of choice for church assemblies. The first-century apostles did not change it! NO human being, institution or state has ever had the right or been given the right to tamper with what God has set apart as Holy and Blessed. As you can see from reading the 4th Commandment, God makes it perfectly clear that He has blessed the 7th day and declared it holy.

As in today’s world, politics seem to orchestrate lawlessness and deception. Politicians have always put themselves above the law, especially God’s Law. If you’re willing to look at historical evidence, the substitution of Sunday for the Sabbath took hold largely through a political decision made by the Roman Emperor Constantine, who by legalizing Christianity, he secured a political advantage over a defeated contender for the office of emperor. Rome which had been Pagan for centuries, used and abused Christianity by making it a puppet under the control of the state. When Constantine made the decision to move the capitol of Rome to Constantinople (in what is today’s country of Turkey), he left the city of Rome in the hands of the Pope.

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Once you’ve accepted Jesus to be your Savior and repented from your sins, every moment of everyday of your life, you are standing at the fork in the road…you have to make a choice whether you are desiring to continue as a child of God or as a child of the world! Are you willing to choose the narrow way? Jesus tells us that we must give up this world to be His follower. So I end this blog by saying choose wisely!
